Login page that feeds a filter or query for a form

4 New Member
Hi there,

I’m relatively new to access so please forgive any ignorance. Here is my, rather long-winded, plea for help:

I have a main table which contains a list of ‘projects’ and associated information (team name, staff member dealing with a particular project, project description, budget etc). Team names and staff names are stored in separate tables and linked to the main table by their ID.

I have fed the various required fields into a query and then created a main form to be fed by this query.

I also have a table containing a ‘date modified’ and ‘modified by’ column which is used to record who modified a particular record and when. This table is tied to a sub-form embedded within the main form.

In the sub-form the ‘date modified’ field is automatically filled in with today’s date when a record is modified however the name in the ‘modified by’ field has to be selected manually from a drop down list.

What I wish to accomplish is that when the database starts up, a form is opened which requests a user to select their individual name or team from a drop down list (fed by my existing tables). When this is selected it would ideally trigger a query or filter of some sort so that when the main form was opened only the records relevant to that individual or team would be displayed for editing. Furthermore, the ‘modified by’ field would automatically be chosen by the name selected at login stage.

I have a feeling this requires some kind of code or macro attaching to an ‘event’, unfortunately my knowledge of adding and modifying code is fairly basic at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Doc. FG.

You are looking at two seperate things. An audit trail to capture the dates modified, look here.

http://www.candace-tripp.com/pages/access_download s.aspx

and Access security. Have a look at the Microsoft Knowledege base for the security question.

I am using a built-in login control on a form, and have set the "DisplayRememberMe" property to false. It correctly does not display that checkbox on the login form; however, after authenticating, I'm prompted with an Autocomplete Passwords Dialog box, asking if I want to remember the password. Is there any way to disable this dialog, and force it to not remember any passwords? Thanks in advance.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
