Hi all,
I want to get your opinions on how to increase available/free memory and

Hi everyone,
I am working on converting a VB6 project to .NET, and I am astounded at how
amazingly slow Visual Studio is when loading a solution. For example, I have
a solution with 11 class library projects, and it takes 40 seconds to load
on a 1.8 GHz machine. Does anyone know what is going on? Is there any way to
turn off the compiler when loading?
Thanks,
Bob L.

Access97 Database
The database is split into a frontend and backend and not connected to any other
database. The database has an unbound report with 15 subreports. Some of the
subreports include Excel charts in unbound object frames. When I add 3
additional subreports, I get the error message that Access can't open any more
databases. Can anyone suggest what may be causing the error message.
Thanks!

I have a client who would like to have several pictures associated
with one system. I have read about storing only the pathname to save
OLE overhead and have set-up a form for my client to browse/add one
picture at a time to a system. Now he would like to 'view' all of the
thumbnails associated with any system on a single form.
I can setup a main/subform scenario, but how do I show all of the
pictures as thumbnails. I was using the...

I have an app for a client (Access97, all the final service releases
and Jet service packs, full installation (not runtime)), that
displays a graphic in an image control based on a path/filename
stored in a field in a data table. It works just great on my PC for
BMP, GIF and JPG.
But on the client's PC, JPG doesn't work (dunno if GIF works or not
-- didn't try it; BMP does work).
I wrote to Larry about this and he hasn't any...

Hi All,
In AccessXP when another user has the application open I want to change
a design or change vba code AccessXP will not let me. It give me the
message about it being opened my another user so my changes may not be
saved. I can't even export an updated form from my master copy to my
production copy if someone has it open.
Is this a feature of AccessXP? Can I change that? Is their an option I
can change? Its a real pain when I have...

I finally narrowed down my code to this situation, quite a few (not all) of
my CMyClass objects got hold up after each run of this function via the
simple webpage that shows NumberEd editbox. My memory profile shows that
those instances survive 3 rounds of GC collections - it's not what I
expected. In my real code, CMyClass occupies big amount of memory and they
all share one stance of another class that I don't have enough memory hold...

you start with a small application in access97, then you have more
modules and more...
and you reach the point where tables like 'item' and 'employee' reach
the limit and you
know there's more indexes required for RI to come
does creating a RI programatically instead of the relationship window
still consume one of the 32 indexes ?
does access2000 / 2003 allow more indexes per table ?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
