type changing on a linked table

Hi,
In a sql server database I've a table with a float field. I also have a
view on this table.
The table and the view are linked in an access database. If I look to
theyre properties I get a double type for the table field and a
currency for the view. This mean that some data are trucated in the
view...
How can I correct this?
Michel

I have an A2k mdb that uses a linked SQL 2k view. In SQL Server, the underlying table uses datatype 'nvarchar'. When I try to view the data in Access (SQL server works fine for the view), I get: ODBC--call failed. Invalid character value for cast specification (#0) If I use design view to look at the linked view, I see that the 'nvarchar' columns are now 'number'. I have deleted and re-linked the tables in

I have a VBA subroutine that links an MS Excel spreadsheet and copies the data into a local table. This process is controlled by a form that allows users to select the spreadsheet from the file system. I actually import from two different named ranges from each workbook so for every import the following subroutine is used twice. The database is used to collate data collected from different surveys entered by remote users into an Excel...

I have 2 tables, CASE and ISSUE. My table, CASE, stores the issues pertaining to that particular case. The table, CASE, was designed with 2 fields, IssueID and IssueDesc. Right now, all of the issues are stord in the field, IssueDesc. BUT I'd like to change that so that the issues are stored in the IssueID field. On my form, the "Control Source" was linked to IssueDesc. So, the issues the user selected are stored in the field, IssueDesc,...

I'm not sure there's an easy solution to this, but thought I'd ask. I often find myself with a query which I'd like to reuse, but with a different datasource. These datasources generally have identical field names. The queries select a subset of the fields, so "Select *" is not really an option. Is there an easy way to change the source of a query, either in the design grid or SQL display? I suppose I could copy the SQL into WordPad...

I have a SQL database which contains a table (TblA) with a field (Fld1) defined as "bigint". When the SQL table is linked to Access the design view of the linked table shows this field as a data type of "Text". I have another linked table (TblB) with a field (Fld2) defined as "int". I need to join TblA to TblB using Fld1 and Fld2 as the join. This of course does not work. There is a data type mismatch error generated. I do not have the...

Hello, I just moved my main database and the backend database to a better location and changed the name. But now I can't seem to get Access to recognize the new location and name. I tried using the linked table manager under tools and that didn't change anything. Same thing with Get External Data-linked table thing under File. Neither one worked. So I went into tools again and checked startup and there is nothing there to change that I...

I've inherited an A2003 application with linked SQL Server 2000 tables in the back end, using the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver. We've set up a test SQL Server database. I'd like to automate the process of relinking the application to test/prod. I've found some code examples here of relinking ODBC back ends to different databases, but they involve deleting the table before relinking. My concern is that the primary key information...

Hi everyone, I am using Access 2003. I have a database with a table in it which is linked to an excel spreadsheet. When I install the database on someone else's system, the pathname to the excel file is different. Howwever, as it is in runtime on their system, I can't update the link using the Linked Table Manager. Is there a way of using a public constant to store a path which can be altered in advance and then combined with a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
