Synchronized combo boxes, dependent field not showing all options after migration of data

I have an order entry database with two forms. One is for new orders
the other is to update orders. The forms are identical except that one
is strictly order entry. On both forms are three sets of sychronized
combo boxes. When entering test data everything worked perfectly. I
recently migrated 5,000+ records from an Excel file to the database.
The migration was successful and all records were copied over. When I
checked the underlying table, all information was as it should be. But,
when I go to the update order form, on two of the dependent combo boxes
only some of the items are showing. For example, one set of combo boxes
is for order type and features. If the order type is "disconnect " then
its assocated feature correctly appears, if the order type is "change,"
it does not, although the data is in the underlying table. If I prnt
out a record, everything prints correctly and all missing data is
there. Does anyone have any idea why the dependent combo box options
are not always appearing?

are you forcing a requery of the second combobox when the first is
changed?
and why do you have two identical forms? Why not just set the
allowEdits property of the form when you open it?

Thank you for your message. In answer to your two questions: 1) Yes,
the problem is not with the combo boxes working. It is with the boxes
showing the data after the importation of records; 2) the reason for
the two forms was at the request of the end-users. Are you suggesting
that to reduce it to one form would elimate the problem?

What's the practical difference between opening a form as read-only and
creating a second form that's read-only? Just more stuff.

I do not understand your question. Where did you infer that they were
read only. One is for data entry and one is for updating orders. Read
only would allow for neither, now would it.

I need help limiting the options shown in a combo box. I have two combo boxes that appear in a datasheet view subform. The form looks like an Excel spreadsheet, which is what the user prefers. Among the fields in the table are two combo boxes: 1) Product Family 2) Products When the user is adding data, the Products list is easily limited to only the products in the product family using an unbound combo box. Hi everyone, Please let there be someone out there who can help. I have two BOUND combo boxes on a continuous form, the second being dependent on the first. I have no problem getting the second combo to change depending on what values the user selects in the first box, it's just that every time the user changes the first combobox, the second combobox FOR EVERY RECORD goes blank.

Hi there, I am working on a form that uses 3 text boxes and 3 combo boxes. When any data is entered into any of these, I click a command button and this requeries a sub query in the form and displays data dependent on what has been typed in. After having trouble with populating my second combo box (I eventually populated it by putting the fields for both combo boxes in 1 separate query) I am now having problems with the 3rd one and am...

I have synchronized combo boxes linking Account Type with Customer Names based on the template that Microsoft has in one of its samples databases. There are the appropriate relationships between the Account Type Table and the Customer Name Table based on the ID field, so it is the ID field which is stored in the main table. However, in the form, the Account Type and Customer Name are displayed because the column width property has been...

Cascading Combo/List Boxes This tutorial is to guide you in the creation of Cascading combo/list boxes. First, I want to say thank you to Scott and the others who replied to my first post here. I had to put that database on hold for the moment when I was tasked with a new one. I am building another database from scratch. This one is for job announcements. I've built only 2 tables (I know this is a no-no, but it was demanded by those wanting this database so I've complied). The field name properties and data types in both tables are virtually...

I have a form which is bound to a dataset. I am filling the forms dataset on Form_Load event. On my form I have combo boxes which I am setting by running a stored procedure to return a datatable, which I then assign to the datasource. Some of my combo box datasources depend on values in other fields to limit the options. For example, I have a sales rep list that is limited by the customer selected in the customers combo box. And...

Hello, I am having an issue with my synchronized combo boxes and don't know how to fix it. I have created two boxes and have made the synchronization work (the user clicks on the first box and makes a choice and the second only shows items which are related to the first box's choice). My problem is that the user can not choose from any of the choices in the second combo... whatever is clicked on the very first item is the only thing that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
