Open Form B depending on the pk of Form A

Hello all

Form A (pk) & Form B (fk)

I want to display my Form B empty whenever is the first time, that the
pk form Form A, is enter. I click a button to open Form B. BUT if the
pk from Form A already exist, then show the information from that
record, when I open Form B. Basically have the option to create a new
record OR show existing information depending if the pk exist or its a
new one.

I know this can be done using subforms, but it wont work for me because
I have 17 forms that I need to relate. So I guess I cant put 17 forms
using subforms, I mean I can but it will be a complete mess, so I dont
want that.

Right now Form B is always showing the option to add a new record
(acFormAdd)

Can anybody help me here pleaseeeee

Really? Maybe your design is either (a) overly complex or (b) your
structure is not right. What is your database going to do? It just
sounds like this database is way more complicated than it should be.

Well yeah, for me it look complicated.

Its an interface call: Compressor Survey Application. It has 18 tables.
eg. compressors, cups, stages, cylinders, case parts assemblies,
gaskets, etc. Each table has in avg. 9-11 fields. This is the way it
works: Load the Location form, enter the location info, then click on
the compressor button. This compressor form uses the location_pk from
location form. Then you enter all the info in the compressor form and
click, stages. It takes you to the stages form, using the
compressor_pk. And so forth. You keep moving adding and adding
depending on your compressor. I can create multiple compressors for one
location, multiple stages for one compressor, multiple cylinders for
one stages....and so forth.

So I dont think the subforms will be a good idea for these. Thats why I
have created multiple forms, and interact b/w those form via buttons.
Right now everything is working fine, I only need that last thing.

Any ideas???

Thankss

I did a few searches, but couldn't come up with a clear answer to my question. So here it is: If I am in an open form (MyForm1), is it possible to set the RecordSource of an un-opened form (MyForm2). I want to use the OnClose Event of MyForm1. But I do not want to have the MyForm2 open when this happens. My wish it to have the RecordSource of MyForm2 permanently changed by the OnClose Event of MyForm1. Can this be done ? Thanks for...

Hello, I'm toying with the idea of loading a MenuStrip (VB.Net 2005) dynamically based on who is logged into my system. Every user has different security settings and I want to customize the main menu instead of showing all possible options and only enabling/disabling certain ones. I have a table that stores the menu item name, parent item (if applicable), display order, etc. so that I can dynamically load my

Hello all! Working in vb.net, with VS 2003. I have 2 projects in a solution. Pretty much a client server setup. Project A controls when a message box open up on Project B. Click a button on A, and the message box will open on B. and the message box in this case is a small form. Pretty much all the control I have is the forms. Depending what button you press on A, that will react on project B by a certain form opening up. Some forms are...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
