I'm writing a simplistic telnet client in VB6 and I've run into a small
snag. The program has a textbox to write in the string to be sent using
..SendData and has another textbox that displays what that server sends.
When I first connect to the server (in this case, my university's smtp
server), I get a response that the server acknowledges my connection. When
I type something into the textbox and send it, however, I get no response...

When vb6 Winsock.RemoteHost is set to "127.0.0.1", c# socket listener cannot hear connect request (my old vb6 winsock listener could hear it...).
Why doesn't this work, and is there a work around I can make on the C# side to hear the connect request?

Hello, I am trying to telnet to a Unix server by
employing a WinSock. The connection is sucessfully made,
but the telnet sends char 255 and char 253 and the
programs hangs and waits infinitly for a reply. Any
ideas of what may be the cause and how to deal with it?
I've also used this with FTP and SMTP for which it works
fine. Im only having this issue with Telnet.

I'm trying to use the gethostbyname function from wsock32.dll and failing dismally Has anyone got a successful implementation of this in VB.NET? My ulitimate goal is to resolve NetBIOS names to IP Addresses. I can use the framework DNS features if a DNS server is present on the network but this cannot use WINS if no DNS server is available.

Hi
Just upgrading a app from VB6 to VB.Net. All is going well apart from the
Winsock control.
The first thing we notice is that there does not appear to be a .Net version
(please correct me if wrong).
Also when we use the VB6 winsock control in a dotnet version we appear to
lose the ability of creating an array on winsock's.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
