What I wanted to do is to have ERwin to reverse engineer an Access db
to generate a MS SQL Server 2000 -compatible SQL DDL script. I'll use
it to create tables, keys, indexes (and having ERwin to capture
Access's TABLE/FIELD DESCRIPTIONS) etc structure on a target SQL Server
2000 db, then using DTS to import data in from the Access DB. (Haven't
used ERwin for a while, would not expect it to be able to convert
Access queries and VB-driven modules(funcito ns) into sql equivalent).
So, I'll take care of that part of functionality conversion myself.
However, I'm having a hard time connecting to Access db from ERwin,
here's how I tried, in ERwin, under Tools menu, choose Reverse Engineer
then select Access 2000 (since there's no choices/options for 2002
and/or 2003), then prompted with db connection inputs including
username, password, database, system database and password. The last
two items of system database and password ticks me off. What the heck
is system database in Access (fyi, I'm not an Access expert,
comfortable though). Leaving them blank while attempting to connect
generates error. CA web site is useless in getting helpful info on
resolving the issue.

Hello All,
I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up
my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change....
Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue,
I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups.
That's the setup:
Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted
Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

I have an Access 2003 .mde sitting on an SQL Server. The tables for
the application also sit on the Server. I'm having a problem with
ODBC on only one of about 10 machines. All the other machines using my
Access 2003 .mde see the linked tables without a problem. I've
configured the User DSN (under Control Panel, Administrative Tools)
tab to match what the other machines are set to, but this didn't work.
I keep getting an error message...

We've had a very large A97 app running fine for the last seven years.
I've just converted to SQL Server backend, which is being tested, but
meanwhile the JET based version, running under terminal server, has
suddenly started running very slowly. The network engineer has thrown
up his hands and said "It's Access 97". I've checked out lots of
things including the Oplocks setting and other stuff from this NG, and
I think I've done everything...

I've got quite a large database which is totally form-driven at the moment.
I now need to allow multiple users access to various parts of it and,
frankly, I'm not prepared waste my time with Access's inbuilt Workgroup
'security features' - it just seems way too clunky. I figured a more
sensible move would be to port over to SQL and drive it from a nice web
front end. Unfortunately my MS SQL experience is pretty much nil and my web...

We have a webserver, Apache, hosted on Linux and we use php as the
scripting language. Now, I am developing a form which will fill up a
Microsoft Access database (on a Windows machine). For this one needs to
use an ODBC connection. Now php has default ODBC support
(http://us2.php.net/odbc ), but I do not think this supports MS Access.
My question is what driver manager/drivers do i need to install for
this:
one option was unixODBC, but...

I have a PHP5 application that accepts external messages, and inserts
them into a database. It's rather high traffic.. the server could be
receiving thousands at a time, and recently mysql has been locking up
because it's exceeding the max_connections limit. I raised it for now,
but that's only a temporary fix.
My question is is there a way to make a connection to mysql that
multiple instances of an object will use together? I'm under...

Hello
I have a script that works but it shouldn't, and I would like to know why.
I originally wrote it with a statement to connect to the database, then
there's a part to select the database, then I get some records and print
them to the browser. It all works fine. A couple of months ago, I commented
out the connection part (I can't remember why), and it still works. I had
thought that there must be a connection statement. Is the...

Hey folks.
Not sure if this is the right place to be asking this, (I looked for a

think I'm a philistine for doing this but what can I do...
I downloaded a copy of DBqwiksite and have "designed" a wee PHP

datafields. Its laughably straight forward. The thing is, I have no
idea what the file structure on...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
