I have a form that has values from many different tables. Here are the
tables:
- Questions(ID, UserID, Question)
- Users(UserID, Name, Email_Address, Other_Info)
So when I browse through each record, I see the question and who
submits the question. I can also modify the fields of both tables.
However, when I want to add a new question, I can start filling out the
question (it creates a new record in the Questions table). That also
creates a new record for a new user, which I don't want unless that the
user is not already in the database. So I'd like to use the user's
email address as a unique keyword to search to see if they're already
in the database. By typing the email address into the field and click
on "Search" or something, that will automatically fills in all other
fields (UserID, Name, Other_Info, etc.) into the form -- assuming the
user's already in the dB. If the user is not in the database, it
should allow me to fill in their information with a new record. Can
somebody walk me step-by-step through this? I'm such a newbie to
access. 0 1241 This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hi.
I'm very new to MS Access and have been presented with an Access database
of contacts by my employer.
I am trying to redesign the main form of the database so that a button
entitled 'search' may be clicked on by the user and the user can then
search all records by postcode. I want to do this to prevent duplicate
data entry.

Hi everyone,
I have posted earlier this week, but I'm still scratching my head trying to
figure out how to change/modify my data back to my db.
Using C# Windows forms. I am trying to learn how to modify existing data
with in my DB/MSDE. In general, I have textbox's filled with existing data
from my "Employee" table. I have amongst other buttons, an "Update" button.
Where, when viewing, if I want to change ie the persons name, anyother...

hi,
i have created a search form, and i want to search for a specific item in a
field.
e.g. i have a field called colour, which has record1 = 'red, blue, green'
and another record2 = 'red'
now, when i do the search, and only type in red, to search for red, it only
brings back record 2, and not record 1 as well.

When I push on my find-record button, after I focussed on the ID-number
field on my form, the default search field in the Search-form dialog
menu is not the focussed field, but another.
Why?

This is the page where I collect the data in drop-down boxes with
values of 1-10 and send it to a submitted page to do calculations.
Example:
Employee1 TeamScore(1-10)
Employee2 TeamScore(1-10)
Employee3 TeamScore(1-10)
Employee4 TeamScore(1-10)
Then I submit this page with all the values in TeamScore for every
employee and I want to
perform a calculation based on the values in the drop-down and a

Hi CroCrew et All,
I am working on a project that will allow user to search for their opened projects (means the CompleteDate is NULL) and be able to update their WorkDescription. Once the record (ProjectID) is created, user can search for their opened projects using either their Username or ProjectID ok without problem because the CompleteDate is NULL at this time. One thing here is when you use your Username you can only search for opened...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
