Hi There
Have been on a massive learning curve today creating an Access database
without having even started the software before this morning! All
going well and have learned to create table, forms, queries and even
inter link.
The database records support for a cohort of schools, giving the
ability to give summaries of support by consultant, subject etc. So far
all is going well with data being inputted by way of a school support
"docket".
However......I have one query!
I have set up a seperate form for admin to select a number of schools
attending centrally based training using a multi-select list box. This
will need to generate records in the master table, so we can include
this in our summary reports.
I can get this to work if ONE school is selected, however when
multiple schools are selected it still only creates on record and
leaves the selection blank. Any help?
I would appreciate and idiots guide type answer, as I explained earlier
I have never used Access before today!
Thanks

Lose the listbox. Just use a subform with a combobox. Much easier.
If you absolutely insist on using a listbox, check out www.mvps.org/access then look up listbox. It'll show you how to
add/filter records based on a listbox.
Would that allow me to create a new record in the master table for
every school selected?
Don't know how to set up sub-forms etc

Yes, and it's more flexible than mucking with listboxes. That's not to
say that you can't do it with a listbox, it's just harder to do that.
You might want to get a book like the SAMS book on Access for the
version you're using ore the Que one (usu. by Roger Jennings) and have
a read. Either that or tear apart the sample DB.
Thanks Piet.
I am now exploring the DLAST command to see if I can just save time by
having the next record using that form pre-populated with data from the
last. This seems a compromise as I cant even get combis to allow
multi-selection (I know....but I am a noobie).
At the moment I cant get DLAST to do its job, I just get !ERROR in the
fields when moving to the next record. I will have to have a bit more
of a play.
hehe

Google these groups on the DFirst and DLast functions. They don't do what you
think they do and are mostly useless.

Sorted!
As I only need it to remember the information during the current input
session and not in the future I used a button to create DUPLICATE
RECORD and then edit.
I was trying to make it too complicated (hehe).
Thanks for all of your help.

I fear that my question may be elementary, but what I am trying just is not
working.
I have two tables:
tblContacts (Essentially a mailing list. Each contact has an Autonumber
ID.)
tblContactIssues (Just an issue ID as long integer and ContactID as long
integer to correspond with tblContacts. I want to capture multiple issues
of interest for each contact)

I have a simple multiselect listbox with a rowsorce of MemberID, MemberName,
SendLetter. SendLetter is a Yes/No field. What is the code to set SendLetter to
Yes when the user selects MemberName? I want to do this as the selections are
being made not after-the-fact after all selections are made.
Thanks!

Dear all,
Could you give me a hint?
a) I generate a report from a query table, then I want to use this
report
to show the total numbers of the customers who buy the goods. There is a
string field "choose goods" in the table. Such field only contains either
"1" or "". Therefore, I write the IIF function on the report form at the
beginning of group row:

Greetings. I have three forms that are open at the same time. They are
related and cascading. The first form (frmEventAdd) is the anchor. Each
event can have many Trials. The second form is frmTrialInfo. Each Trial
can have three Classes. The third form is frmClassInfo. These forms are
used for update and adding new records.
The user displays an event for update (frmEventAdd). Then clicks on a
button to display the Trials for that event...

hey... i have an unbound multiselect listbox on a form that i want to use to
populate text boxes on that form. so if a user selects the 3rd item in a
list of 20, how can i have that item show up in a text box? then, how can i
have a second selected item show up in a different text box, without
affecting the 1st one? (lboxOptions, txtboxOptions0, txtboxOptions1, etc..)

On my form I have combo boxes. These combo boxes, after updating
them, populate respective listboxes that are located below the combo
boxes on the same form. I am trying to use a "generate report" button
located on my form to print all of the list box values (that have been
updated via selection from combo boxes) from the form to the report.
I've tried using a macro with the code:
Macro Name: cmdGenerateReport : On Click

Hello,
The details are below, but I have a simple form (Form1) with two objects and a "search" command button. When the two objects are cascading combo boxes (the form creates the parameters for a query - Query1), the query returns my results proper. But when the two objects are cascading combo-then-multiselect listbox (the perferred format in this case), the query always returns zero records.
Tables:

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
