Cant Update Recordset

I am trying to make a finances database. I have a master table which
contains transaction header info and then a line details table. What i
want is to make a reconcile query where i can see simply the date,
account and posted (boolean field) from the transaction table and then
a subquery with the total off all the line details for the transaction.
this in itself is easy to set up. However I can not check if it is
posted? If i go back to the subquery and ungroup it i can. But when i
sum it so that i can see the total of the transaction so that it
matches the bank statement it wont let me update it. How do i solve
this?

You may not be able to do it quite this way. You cannot update a row in a
grouping/summing query. By definition, you are not looking are a single
identifiable data row in a grouping query. You are looking at one summary
row on each line that could represent any number of lower-level data rows.

Sadly, when another query includes a reference to such a query, the new
query also becomes non-updatable as well.

There are quite a few ways to go at this. Are you constrained to queries
for any reason, or can you branch out to forms for these tasks?

The code I use to get it from the db table is: ''Retrieve the Registration Identification Number strRegisterID = Rs("Register_ID") Prior to testing my code and actually updating the db, I''m trying to write it to the page to make sure their isn''t a loop or massive...

I'm having some trouble with VB in Access 2000. I have a form that the user enters in just one number (in this case, it's a base salary) and then the program is going to do a bunch of math (which is not all shown) and populate a table with these new, calculated salary values. I know I shouldn't be storing calculated values in the table, but I have to have these numbers in there as a lookup too. Anyway I think I might be getting too...

All, I have a ADODB.Recordset in my Access 2002 project. I've been able to successfully add fields to the record set. According the the MS Access help files, I now must update the recordset to get the field additions to "stick." For example, the code below shows how the Access help files say to append fields to a ADO recordset. dim ADO_RS as ADODB.Recordset set ADO_RS = (some other ADODB recordset) ADO_RS.Close...

I am making a front end mdb so users can enter new members data. I can then import this into the master database on the backend and erase the existing info on the front end to keep the data reasonably secure. ( I borrowed the code from http://www.databasedev.co.uk/unbound-forms-add-data.html example) I have 4 tables that will be updated from this form: Members ContactInfo Payments

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
