A2003/Office2003 and "Lite" Office Poducts

By "lite" I mean some of the things that are factory installed on PCs,
in my case a Dell laptop - they include such things as MS Works (which
includes some kind of database software - forget what it is - I'm at
work, laptoop is at home), MS Money (or something), MS Word 2002, a
Powerpoint "reader" and possibly some other things.

I vaguely recall some posts in the past about conflict with these sorts
of things when installing a fully flegded Office package, including
Access (2003, in my case).

Other than establishing a separate directory for my Office installation,
is there anything else I should be aware of or uninstall, first? My O/S
is Xp Home...

TIA.

Hi Tim,

Maybe I would uninstall Word 2002 if I was to install Office 2003 Professional.
You don't *need* to uninstall this version but you will use only one version of Word I guess...

No *need* to uninstall other stuff either IME (but I would uninstall MS Works too).

Some people would say however that it is nice to start 'as clean as possible' with a new PC ...

Hello all. I have an index.php file that has a lot of functions that I wrote. Let's say for the sake of argument that there are 1000 functions of 100 lines each. The index.php file is invoked with a "state" a la "index.php?state=L1-2L3C4-47". Different functions are called according to what the state is, and then user actions can cause index.php to be invoked again with a different state. For instance, you can click an "erase this...

What exactly is the sense of using a "const" modifier before a function declaration? Actually, you can use it in three places. For instance, take a look at the following function declaration (from the introductory book "Absolute C++" by W. Savitch, p. 315) class Money { Money(); const Money operator + (const Money& amount2) const; private:

Hello, let me first describe the situation: I am developing an application using Qt Designer 3.3.5 on OpenSuSE Linux for my mp3 player. So I need to get the id3 tags from the mp3 files, and I've downloaded the sources of id3lib. I've included the headers (there are no other files) in my project in Qt designer, then created an object from my files. When starting the make command, it compiles normally all the headers (although giving some...

Hello, In the C++ FAQ lite there is a whole section about serialization: http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/serialization.html Since FAQ 3.2 ( http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/faq-book.html#faq-3.2 ) sounds really interresting, I bought the book and am reading it right now - but I am completely missing anything about serialization ?!? Am I half blind or doesn't the book cover MORE topics then the lite version as the FAQ claims...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
