SELECT CAST (varchar(20) fieldname) as newfieldname
and i get a bunch of errors

Can someone please help me?

Hi, I've got a field that stores numeric values, representing a tracking number. I've also got a stored procedure that will extract this field and return it to a client. However, I would like to return it slightly differently to the way in which it is stored. Basically, I want to return it as TRK000nnn - Where TRK is the string "TRK", 000 is zero-padding up to 4 zeros, and nnn is the number itself - results would look something like...

I have a table of zip codes, some with Canadian zips. I'd like to take a zip code and search for nearby zips. For example: Dim theZip As Integer = textbox1.text ....Parameter.Add(@ziplow, SqlDbType.Int, 5).Value = (theZip - 10) ....Parameter.Add(@ziphigh, SqlDbType.Int, 5).Value = (theZip + 10) SELECT * from ZIPCODES where Cast(zip_code as Integer) BETWEEN @lowzip AND @highzip

Can somebody please tell me whether the following syntax is supported or whether it's a "feature" that will someday stop working. It works in both SQL Server 2000 and 2005 at the moment. declare @var varchar(1000) set @var = '' select @var = @var + colx from some_table where col1 = some_value colx is a varchar or at least is cast to one as part of the select statement. If the where clause would normally return more than one row,

I can get the whole of yesterday and today using this query SELECT site, ord_date, LEFT(RTRIM(LTRIM(descr)),24) account FROM orders WHERE ord_date BETWEEN CAST(CAST(DATEADD(DAY,-1,GETDATE()) AS INT) AS DATETIME) AND CAST(GETDATE() AS DATETIME)Casting GETDATE to INT truncates the time element and casting back to DATETIME resets the time element to midnight. I figured if I did something like this it would give me 17:00 yesterday...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
