2 data files for mail merge into WORD?

I have searched the archives for answers with no luck.
I am now using Access 2003 from Lotus Approach.
I see that Access does not have any built in envelope or mailing lable
features.
I want to have a standard letter that I use with a mailing label.

I tried WORD for the mail merge but I have my contact data in one data
file (table) and my projects in a different data file (table) . So my
standard letter which is a transmittal needs to see both the contact
and project names and numbers to insert into the page. WORD only let
me use 1 data file. Any work arounds for this problem?

I see two solutions:
1. Make a query based on the two tables, and use that as datasource.

2. Drop mailmerge, and let access create the word documents using vba and
automation.

If your "projects" data is only going to be ONE record of data that you need
to merge along with the contact information, then you simply build a form
based on the projects table that also pulls in the contact information.

You then use find, or browse tot he correct record..and then click on the
word merge button...you are done!!

The super easy word merge button code and library of mine can be downloaded
here:

So, if you can select ONE project..then my above merge code will do the
trick for you (just build a query based on the projects table..and also
based on the contacts table - then build a form based on the query..and then
use my above merge system).

Software: Office XP Systeem: Win 2000 I'v been trying to merge an access database OLE field (containing RTF text) into a word doc. The mail merge works OK, all database fields are added except the OLE field which is displayed as "Long binnary value or text" in the word doc after the merge.

Is it possible to create a Word form as the data entry form for an Access database? I didn't see any reference to this possibility in my Access books, so I'm sorry if this is a question that is rather off-the-wall. I was asked to ask this question, to see if a Word form can be linked to an Access database and then emailed to various end-users for them to complete task requests using this form.

Everyone, I posted the message below back in February and didn't get any information. I also wasn't able to find any documentation in MS Help, web site, or other groups. I'm posting now with results of my research in case anyone else might need this information. I consulted with my MIS colleague, and he said it would be ok to have each merge file pull the whole database when the criteria screen is opened. His reasoning was that it...

I would like to control which department is to get the mail merge letters. I have a department selection pop-up form where the departments are listed in a listbox. The value of the listbox is DepartmentID. On the form is a Create Mail Merge button which is coded to open the mail merge and make the pop-up form not...

I have a table of data in Access 2002 which is used as the source table for a mail merge document using Word 2002 on my clients PC. The data is transferred OK but I've noticed that any dates which fall between 1stday/anymonth/any year and 12thday/anymonth/any year are rearranged in the wrong format. For example 4th July 2005 from the database would be displayed as 07/05/2005 in the merged document. In addition blank date fields from the...

I'm trying to use the Mergit() function from the MS Knowledge base article to merge data from a query or table in my Access 2000 mdb into an existing word merge document. Every time it runs it brings up the dialog "Confirm Data Source", and asks if I want to use OLE, DDE, or ODBC. If I say ODBC, it then asks me for the table name. If I do all that, the merge works correctly, but I don't want users to have to do all that. I thought the...

Hello, Thank you in advance for any assistance. I am trying to set up a mail merge from VB6/VBA code with Word 2000 using an ODBC data source (SQL 2000). I have successfully gotten the connection working using both a file dsn and a machine dsn. I am currently using a simple test merge template with fields <<FirstName>> (a nvarchar) <<Id>> (an int primary key).....plus a <<NextRecord>> field. The template doc itself has no data source...

I am currently trying to do a multiple record mail merge through a query via a command button on a form. The query basically displays customers who have said yes to privacy. The user inputs a date into txtDate on frmDate and the clicks "View Queried Privacy Records" Once they click this it opens the query form frmPrivacy which then has a command button cmdMailmerge to perform the mail merge and print the records that result from that query. (I...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
