Compile at runtime?

Hi all,

Is it possible to execute a command like 'CompileAndSave All' at runtime?

In a new app I use a codelibrary. (The app is still changing, codelib also)
I add this lib to the references at startup with code.

By adding the lib the db enters a 'decompiled' state.
I would like to compile at runtime or is this not needed?

Btw: I also remove this lib with code when the app closes.

Any ideas?

Intriguing question. I am no expert so I'm anxious to see replies from
others to this (in the old days, Michka was really good at these kinds of
questions). It's my understanding that the compile is always done as needed,
so there is no need to force it. But, wouldn't the code in the library be
already compiled anyway?

YES!

Why don't you take Salad's advise and grow up and get a life and quit
sending emails to my office.

Just got an intriguing answer from our mutual friend. Let's ignore that one...

The code in the library is compiled indeed when I deliver this codelib.mde
BUT when this library is added to the refs of the application, the application is not compiled anymore.
Again: I am not sure if it 'hurts', but I would want to compile if that is needed.

Btw: This application is an mdb, codelib is an mde.
This is the app I am/was developing with a co-worker.
I asked a question about that a few weeks ago.

Now I understand. I'm pretty certain that, even though the application
indicates compile needed, all of the modules retain all of their compiled
code. If that is indeed the case, there would be nothing to gain by forcing
a recompile.

Thanks David,
I already had been trying the SysCmd 504, 16483 earlier.
Found that with a Google search.

I just though it was not working, because when I checked in a module the option to Compile was/is still enabled ...
Same with the function, but the value of Application.IsC ompiled changes in both occasions.

So I think the app *is* compiled when Application.IsC ompiled =True
Confusing this ...but thanks a lot.

I have read that using templates makes types know at compile time and using inheritance the types are first decided at runtime. The use of pointers and casts also indicates that the types will first be know at runtime.
