Why won't Access Run this Query?

UPDATE GIS_EVENTS_TEMP SET GIS_EVENTS_TEMP .FSTHARM1 =
HarmfulEvent.Ha rmfulEvent
WHERE (((HarmfulEvent .UnitId)=1) AND ((HarmfulEvent. ListOrder)=0) AND
((GIS_EVENTS_TE MP.CASEID)=[harmfulevent].[crashnumber])),

GIS_EVENTS_TEMP .FSTHARM1 = HarmfulEvent.Ha rmfulEvent
WHERE (((HarmfulEvent .UnitId)=2) AND ((HarmfulEvent. ListOrder)=1) AND
((GIS_EVENTS_TE MP.CASEID)=[harmfulevent].[crashnumber]));

is there a reason you have two WHERE clauses in your update? Normally
you just AND them together...

Nov 13 '05 #2
Yes.... Because they are different where clauses. I have a SQL server
Query that is about 80 of these

Well, have a look at the screen that comes up when you open the
software. This is NOT SQL Server. It's ACCESS. They're DIFFERENT.
Just because it works on SQL Server doesn't mean it works in Access.
Try doing a CAST in Access...

I'm learning to design web applications with php, mysql, and apache from a book. I copied a sample application called guestbook 2000 that came with the CD in the book to my htdocs folder, but couldn't get the sign guestbook page (sign.php) to work. This page first checks the value of the $submit variable. If it is not "Sign", the page displays a blank form for the guest to sign. If it is "Sign", the page process the form information and...

Hi everyone, I haven't found any reference to this problem on this group or in Access 97 help. I hope someone here knows this - probably a simple thing, but not obvious. I designed a query to pull payment data from my database for accounting. It has 3 tables with one-to-many joins: Table1 --> one-to-many --> Table2 --> one-to-many --> Table3 The payment amount field is in Table3. I entered a few negative

I've been working around this for years (I believe), so I figured someone here might know: Why won't a crosstab query accept a value from a form reference? TRANSFORM Format(First(QtrAvg),'Fixed') AS FirstQtrAvg SELECT PropertyCode, Survey, Question FROM SurveyData WHERE PropertyCode = Forms.MainForm.Subform.Form.PropertyCode GROUP BY PropertyCode, Survey, Question

Hi, Wondering if anyone can help with an append query I'm running in Access. It should add records from an Access table to a linked SQL Server table (linked via ODBC). I run the query by double clicking it in Access - nothing clever. Trouble is, the first thing Access does when I run the query (judging by the SQL trace) is "set implicit_transactions on". Then, after the query has run, it just doesn't commit the transaction.

I have been trying to get to the bottom of some bloating that I have in a frontend database. I started deleting objects a few at a time and have now deleted all objects and custom menu bars. The database is just a shell but the size is still 5 Mb after a compact and repair. If I create an mde, the file size is about half a meg - roughly the size I would expect the empty mdb to be. I can't understand why the empty mdb won't compact down...

Hello, I have what seems like a simple left join query, but Access returns results like it's an inner join. I've tried numerous combinations without success. I have a table (ProjectList) with one row per project. Each project has a status condition of Green, Yellow or Red. The other table (DisplayOrder) has three rows, one for each status condition color.

Environment; Win2K PC with 1Gb of RAM and plenty of HD space running Access 2002 Issue; Access presents a blank data entry form in the Forms view when the New Record icon is used. However, it won't allow any fields to have data entered into them. I can edit & save existing records without problem. When I go into the Tables view, I can add records and data ok and save without problem. I go back into the Table and I can see the data. ...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
