I'd like to connect to an mdb(v2002+) on the web server which contains
readOnly linked tables. My remote users are not permitted to connect
directly to the sql server db that the mdb links to because sql server
is outside the dmz.
The remote users have either Access 2002 or 2003 installed.
Any other suggestions for connecting would be appreciated.
Thanks,

The only solution if your sysadmins won't open a port to let people
into the SQL Server (which is a perfectly sound decision on their
part) is to allow the remote users to connect via VPN, which would
then put them inside the firewall, and able to connect to the SQL
Server.
That's the usual way of handling these things. I certainly wouldn't
want a SQL Server port open to the wild-and-woolly Internet.

Thanks, David.
I've explored both options you mention, and for one reason or another
they won't fly here. Or at least, a single solution using either
option can't be applied to all my users. I'm looking for a secure
least-common-denominator, with the hopes of one day eliminating Access
from the client pc's altogether. It's only function at the moment is
local report generation.
I'm looking at xml datasources now. Having some success.
Thanks again.

Well, ASP to produce HTML should be able to produce decent reports,
not as good as Access reports, but not terrible, either.

I am makeing a Multicast server client setup and was wondering what the
difference is between Socket.Connect, and Socket.Bind.
It may be a stupid question, but I was just curious. Because I tried a
test, and I can't bind two sockets to the same port/ip but I can
connect with one socket, and bind with another to the same ip/port.
Thanks

Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
