Custom Macros

Is it possible to write custom macros in Access, or are you only able to
use the ones they allow? If so, how do you go about accessing the
Editor.

One more question, what is a good source to learn how to write a macro
that exports certain data from Access into Excel, then formats it. I
have queries written in Access and a macro that exports it to Excel, but
then you have to format it everytime so it looks like a blance sheet.
Is there an easy way so the data exported always goes into an Excel
template or something like that?

What you describe can be done with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code,
but, in Access, that isn't considered a "macro" -- macros and VBA are
different features. In fact, someone skilled in VBA can do a great deal more
than can be accomplished with macros.

I'd suggest you go browse at a nearby well-stocked bookstore for self-study
books -- many of them have beginning, intermediate, and advanced topics on
VBA. There are also some very useful on-line courses at
http://office.microsoft.com, but, sad to say, none really go far enough to
cover VBA. I like John Viescas' _Access 2003 Inside Out_ from Microsoft
Press, Roger Jenkins' _Special Edition Using Access <version>_, and any
Access book of which Ken Getz is the author or co-author.

Follow some of the links from http://www.mvps.org/access, or the Resources
section of http://ntaccess.tripod.com, or Jeff (The Access Junkie) Conrad's
very helpful site at
http://home.bendbroadband.com/conrad...essjunkie.html.

I have a custom Access menu with sub-menus and sub-sub-menus. (220 items). Right now I have created 220 Functions and attached each individual Function to the specific OnAction property. The Functions return Text which is the same as the Caption of the sub-sub-menu items. I would like to reference the Custom Popup Caption of these sub-sub-menus and pass it through one Function for input in a form. *** Sent via Developersdex...

Hi, Can someone explain the basic structure of a header file? I just completed a introductory C programming class. The course stressed structured programming and creating reusable code. We learned to use functions and to create our own. The problem is we never learned to place them in header files. To me, and obviously, I'm not that experienced with C, it would be better to place user created functions in separate header files...

Hello, I need to implement a custom allocator to speed up the allocation of a specific class in my project and instead of hardwiring it, I would "templatize"(?) it. The allocator should have minimal overhead and be used for allocation of a large number of "Node" classes which represent a hierarchical structure. The custom allocator has to be at least intrusive as possible for the user. The allocator has to be somehow bound to the...

Many years ago at IBM we had a text formatting language (DCF) which let you specify all sorts of microcommands to a page formatter. Not particularly exciting, but it was also a primitive programming language and you could write your own GML tags (commands). In fact, you could create a form or specification or any standard format by defining a set of custom GML macros. The GML would specify content and the macros would define the...

I needed to import large CSV files into Access, when requested by a command in a .Net interface. Because Access does not have a bulk insert command, and I already have vba macros in Access that do the import, I simply called the vba macro from .Net using COM. Each time a csv file is successfully imported, I would like to raise a custom event in Access that the .Net interface can handle.

I've been clicking around Access 2007 Beta 2 and can't see the custom menu bar designer. Is it in the beta? Maybe I'm blind. The question that comes to mind is: Will custom menu bars be the same height as they were in previous versions or will they be the "ribbon" style that takes up a huge portion of the screen? Also when I use Access 2007 to open an Access 2003 database that has custom menu bars they display as they did in Access...

Ok, I am think I am a little more knowledgeable about C and pointers, ughh. And likewise, I want to fix C.....and not so much to make a C++ or Java or C# or even D like language. So, if I wanted to make my "custom" C compiler that's different that the current C99 or ANSI C, where would I start? Thanks.

Hello all, For right-click (shortcut) menus in access 2007, I've been using a round-about method of opening access 97 on an old computer, modifying my own custom shortcut menus, then importing the menus only into my access 2007 project. This is proving cumbersome (especially since my old pc with access 97 likes to blue screen when running acc 97), and I was wondering if there's an easier way?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
