How do I get the next int value for a column before I do an insert in
MY SQL Server 2000? I'm currently using Oracle sequence and doing
something like:
select seq.nextval from dual;
Then I do my insert into 3 different table all using the same uniqueID.
I can't use the @@identity function because my application uses a
connection pool and it's not garanteed that a connection won't be used

we have a contention problem because of an application which tries to
insert a duplicate row in a table with primary key. This insert fails
of course but the locks are not released within this transcation.
Why DB2 does not release the X lock after a failed insert???
We use DB2 UDB EEE Version 7.2 Fixpak 9, but we also can reproduce the

Hi I have a TabControl object that I need to insert new TabPages into. To
append them to the end of the Controls Collection I can do:
tc.controls.add(tp)
(tc - tabcontrol object)
(tp - tabpage object)
But how can I insert them into the middle of collection? I see a 'RemoveAt'

I can't seem to get insert into a DataGrid to work.
I am using an example from the net and made changes to work on my computer.
The grid comes up fine. The edit boxes in the footer are there. But when I
press the "insert" link, it never seems to go to the DataGrid1_ItemCommand
routine.

I'm trying to use the set<my_class>::insert( my_class const & )
method, but have run into some problems. It seems like I'm seeing it
insert an object when a similar object is already in the set.
After calling insert(), I see the .second of the return value set to

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
