ODBC--call failed

Hello:

Our organization uses MS Access to store all of our members
information.

Our primary database computer is running on Windows 98. This is where
the main database exists. The MS Access version we are running is MS
Access 95, V7. I know it is very old, but the organization is afraid
to update to a newer version for fear of losing data. So, I must work
with what I have.

Previously we had a secondary computer which ran on Windows 95. This
was networked with the Windows 98 computer and a Dell Server.

I have been able to remove the Windows 95 computer and connect the XP
comp. to the network. I can access the primary database on the XP
comp. without a problem. I can make changes to existing tables, forms,
etc. Except for one table.

Every time I try to open this one particular table I get an ODBC--call
failed message.

I tried to re-create the specs in the ODBC control panel with the ones
on the Windows 95 computer. It did not work.

What is the problem? I am new to ODBC and it is baffling to me that
everything in the database works except for the one table!

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Microsoft has abandoned support for Windows 95 and Access 95; you should do
the same. Access 95 was seldom, if ever, used for developing stable
applications.
I don't know of any professional programmer that would take on the task of
keeping your app in Access95.

Your data, and most of your existing forms/reports/etc. will be successfully
converted when you upgrade to Access 97 (also not MS supported now, but a
reliable product) or preferably to Access XP/2002. $90 retail for the
upgrade product.

I've successfully converted dozens of my own and clients' applications from
Access2 and 95 versions. You'll need to download an interim converter from
MS if you plan to jump from Access95 to something later than Access2000.

More importantly for you, all the newer versions have better ODBC drivers
and setup/control wizards.

The code I've pasted below is taken directly from Microsoft's site at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;308157 As far as I can tell the error is raised on this line: conn = New SqlConnection("server=MyServer;Integrated Security=SSPI;database=pubs") If I use the code as is, I get the error above. The code only works if I hardcode the username and pwd into it as in the following line:

I've implemented forms authentication and authorization on my application. In my Web.Config, my authorization section looks like this.. <authorization> <allow roles="admin" /> <deny users="*" /> </authorization> If an authenticated user, who is NOT designated the role "admin" attempts to access this folder, he/she is simply redirected to the login page.

Hi: I'm running a large database on PostgreSQL 7.1.3. 20 days ago the database failed with a threatening and not too descriptive error like: pg_exec() query failed: server closed the connection unexpectedlyThis probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request. I lost some data and had to recreate a table, without knowing the reason

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
