New Access / SourceSafe Bug Discovered

So, we recently spent the last few hours chasing a rather obscure
bug... We thought we would share with the group in the hopes that
someone else finds this information useful.

We use Access 2003 with SourceSafe for our current projects. We
recently has a problem where Access would crash when we would "Get
Latest Version" of a certain report.

After an exhaustive search, we found the culprit. We had used high
ASCII in one of the labels (specifically, it was a right arrow
character).

It appears that since SourceSafe imports and exports to text, that the
SourceSafe parser was unable to deal with high ASCII characters in a
label.

To resolve the problem, just do not use high ASCII in your labels
(likely other controls too), if you plan to use SourceSafe.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm trying to get this going and I believe I have followed all the steps outlined in the documentation. I have selected to Add To Source Control the stored procedures in my database from the Server Explorer in Visual Studio. It then asks me the location of the sourcesafe database and enter this. It then brings up a login dialog for SourceSafe. I enter this. This is

I need some help. I am trying to set up our development environment so as to make life easy for my fellow developers (none of whom have used ASP.NET or VS.NET before). We are developing our intranet which will comprise basic content with a number of small data-driven ASP.NET applications. I need to keep things simple, so I need to avoid stuff which needs too much in-depth knowledge to work.

Hi, Visual Studio .NET 2003 Visual SourceSafe 6 (6.0d) I'm working in a three person team on a reasonably complex Solution - it currently consists of 9 separate projects (3 of them are plain class libraries, the others are ASP.NET websites), and we're getting some odd behaviour when we "Get Latest Version" from within Visual Studio

Hello I downloaded Office 2007 for this reason : It seems, once again, that it is impossible to save any modification done in a VBA library, from the main project in Access. The save button remains desperatly grayed. It also seems impossible to open the library in another Access instance

I have happily been using Access 2003 sp1 with SourceSafe 6.0d (build 31222) for two years. However, application database is being upsized to SQL Server 2005, currently sp2 Developer Edition. I can use Source Safe from the SQL Server database though there were warnings about encoding. However, Access crashes with 'Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close' if I try to relink my checked out tables to SQL Server...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
