Linking to an external library with VBA code

Dear reader,

In the module window you can make a link to an external library within the
reference form.

The reference form can be activated with Tools/References... In the menu
bar.

Within the reference window you can browse to the external library and
select the file to make the references.

How can I make a reference to an external library with using VBA code to
prepare the reference.

(Without using the reference form).

Tanks for any help.

Kind regards,

Simon van Beek

That's because I believe Piet meant AddFromFile (or AddFromGUID)

Is there anything that gives a good description of how source code is converted into a translation unit, then object code, and then linked. I just read this in the description of how C++ is supposed to be implemented: "All external object and function references are resolved. Library components are linked to satisfy external references to functions and objects not defined in the current translation. All such translator output is collected into a program image which contains information needed for execution in its execution environment." What I'm wondering is what exactly...

Help! I'm new to c++, and am breaking my teeth on MS Visual C++ (bundled within Visual Studio .NET 2003). Am trying to link simple c++ code to fortran dlls created in Compaq Visual Fortran (v6.1). Posts concerning this topic are common, but none of the posted solutions I've tried work correctly with the above software. The linker can't seem to find the dll (reports 'unresolved external symbol __imp__IMSL_FUN@8'; IMSL_FUN.dll is the f77...

I am currently trying to port a small open source scientfic library written in C++ to .Net. The code (including the VS solution) could be found at http://www.vermorel.com/opensource/selfscaling.zip My problem is that when I try to compile the library I got a list of linking error messages. I am not a specialist of porting C++ code to .Net. Does anyone has an idea on how to make this code compile in .Net ? Thanks, Joannes Vermorel

Hi I've a COM compiled in visual studio 6 that is internally using zlib library (an opensource library for compression). I've no problem compiling that code. But when I moved to visual studio.Net it started giving me linker errors. The errors are given below. Is there any compiler option in the .Net studio that I'm missing because if there were a problem with the zlib library that I'm using, it must have given errors in VS 6 too. If...

I am in the process of trying to migrate a couple of build solutions to Visual Studio Express 2005 from VS 2003 Professional and I am running into a weird C/C++ runtime library linking issue when using the /MT compilation option. Our debug solution's /MTd flag works fine and using /MD also seems to work ok. For some reason I can't fathom, when I use /MT, linking the static excutable completely dies (problems resolving symbols in the STL,...

C++ linking works by using Linker to combine object files into single exe file. Does each .cpp file compile to a single .obj file? If the .cpp code called functions in some library (.lib) does the Linker will extract the required .obj object file from the library and link together with other .obj file to form a EXE? So the EXE file can be think of a code file that merged all the .cpp

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
