from access to oracle

Hi,

We have huge oracle database in my company.
I would like to make some queies using access. I've been trying to connect
access to this oracle db, but without any luck.
Do I need to have some oracle drivers?
We are using other program to get information from the db and we have
acquired drivers for that program.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Miipe

Yes, you need the Oracle ODBC driver, or the Oracle OLEDB driver. The
ODBC driver should be in the Drivers tab of the ODBC Data Source
Administrator (Control Panel > Administrative Tools). Go to this WEB
site for ODBC connection strings:

http://www.connectionstrings.com/

Read the ADO documentation for the OLEDB connection strings.

Once you've set up a connection you can use SQL Pass Through (SPT)
queries, using Oracle's SQL syntax, to retrieve data. Read the Access
articles on SPT queries for more info.

Access is a truly wonderful reporting tool to use with Oracle. With
experience, you can also write extremely effective applications that
will also manipulate (ie inserts, updates, deletes, DDL) Oracle very well.

You need to use an ODBC driver and set up a sat source name or "DSN".
If you need help with this, write back - I have an old Powerpoint
presentation for the win98 environment (it's essentally the same for
winXP) I've sent to a lot of Oracle users in the past I can email you.

You have two choices for the ODBC driver. Access comes with a Microsoft
produced Oracle ODBC driver and your Oracle installation cd comes with a
driver.

I've always advised using the Oracle ODBC driver over the MS one but my
organization is still using Oracle 8i. Some of my colleagues who use
Access against Oracle elsewhere have found some difficulties with 10G
and it's ODBC driver - I forget exactly the complication. They found
the MS one worked around the problem.

Hello, I am a newbie to Oracle databases.... We have a visualization front-end tool connected to an Oracle back-end database on a Tru64 UNIX server. We also have clients with MS access databases who would like to share their data using this visualization tool but do not want to import their data into the Oracle server back-end.

I have a linked table from an Oracle database (that contains HR information for my company)in an Access database. The Oracle DB is updated on a daily basis. I would like one of my tables in Access to update automatically so when an employee is hired, my access table reflects that new employee that was added to the Oracle DB. I should say I have read-only access to the Oracle Db. Would I have to run an update query or can this be...

I need to convert a 17mb access 2000 db to Oracle and house it in a Citrix farm. The issue: we have never converted an Access Db to Oracle but can probably use Oracle's Workbench to assist with this. Also - the citrix folks do not want us to keep the FE in Access as the queries and other activities consume a lot of power. The users will be in 3 different offices across the globe all accessing the 1 Oracle DB in Citrix. Does anyone have...

I have a contacts table with name address and such but are missing all phone numbers in the phone number fields. I have just received an updated customer list in Excel and have imported into a new table. Can I run a query that will take the phone number only from the new table and update the old tables phone number fields from empty to the proper information?

I need to migrate Unicode data from MS Access to Oracle. Have tried the following: -Exported the Access tables to csv/txt, but these files were generated in ANSI encoding, and the Unicode data got converted to ASCII characters. -ODBC export directly to the Oracle tables doesn't work either. -However, when the table is exported to excel, Unicode encoding is retained.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
