exporting memo field from access97 to excel97 truncates after 255 chars

I've read all the posts, but nothing works
I've got a table with an ID field and a memo field
one record in the table, with the memo field having 322 chars

I open the table, and then use the office links on the toolbar to
'analyze it with ms excel', but the contents on the excel cell contains
just the first 255 chars

I've also tried, using vba, ie.
.range("A2").Co pyFromRecordset Me.RecordsetClo ne

where the recordset source is the table, same result

what else can I try ? any ideas

The only way to overcome the 255 character limitation is to
write code that gets the field length in access, then loops
(fieldlength mod 255) +1 times and writes the subparts to that
many cells in Excel.

I'll try that
but after creating the excel worksheet as defined above, I can copy the
complete text (322 chars) from Access and paste it into one excel cell,
so I'm not sure when I need many cells

Hi, I have a report based on a query. The query grabs a memo field from my main table, yet when I display the memo field in the report it truncates the memo field (the field needs to hold more than 255 characters). The table holds all the memo text, but the query seems to truncate the memo field to 255 chars? This seems like there should be a relatively easy fix, but I can't seem to find it.

Hi all, I have a query in ASP.NET that selects text from a memo field in Access (among other things). The query appears to be truncating the text at 255 characters. I've done a little research on this and found some other Google Groups threads that were helpful, but I still don't have a solution. My query is rather complicated and uses a union, but not the keyword distinct. The query is displayed in a datagrid, and I don't know how I...

I have a query that combines the results of three related tables. The memo fields are truncated to 255 characters, but I need all the information in them. I'm aware that removing code such as DISTINCT and GROUPBY will fix this problem (as discussed in other threads in this group), but I need to limit the query results to unique values, which is what DISTINCT does for me. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jacob

I am trying to export a query from Access into Excel. One of the fields is a MEMO field. When I save/export into Excel as formatted, it truncates the MEMO field so that most of the data is deleted. However, when I save/export into Excel and don't select formatted, the MEMO field is imported intact. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

This: TRANSFORM First(.Text) AS FirstOfText SELECT .Expr1000 FROM _allText GROUP BY .Expr1000 PIVOT .LetterSectionID; hangs the application if _allText.Text is a memo field. But it's fine if it's a text field.

Hi, I am very new to MS Access. I have inherited an existing app which was done in MS Access 2003. In this app, there is a report which contains a memo field. There are no formats, functions, unions, or anything. It is populated from a simple select. The problem is....when the user exports the report to excel, it seems to be truncating this memo field after 512 chars. After that, there appears funny chars that look like tiny squares. Excel...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
