Making white sections of a picture (used in a report) transparent.

I've got a YES/NO section of a report I'm making. Depending on certain
values, I want to circle either YES or NO. I've got the code working so
it'll show or hide the circle, but I can't seem to get the circle
(which I drew in Adobe Photoshop because I want the handwriting look)
to be transparent (ie show the Yes or the No in the middle of it). I've
tried right clicking and setting background to transparent but still no
luck.

The thing that is really confusing me is a picture I inserted ealier IS
transparent, but all the properties appear to be the same when I
compare that picture with my circle. Another curious thing is when I
moved the transparent picture out of the 'Detail' section into the
'Footer' section, it lost its transparency. CONFUSED!!!

Any ideas much appreaciated...

Cheers

Reg, a picture is not transparant AFAIK, someone correct me if I'm
wrong. What probably happened in the earlier example was that the
control with the yes/no check box or text box or whatever was probably
ON TOP of the picture.

I'm doing a lot of work lately with maps that are linked to an OLE
object but I have a grid of rectangles (actually label controls with a
border and invisible background property) so I know you can have
controls over top of a picture.

What I'd do is make sure that the control you want to see is on top of
the OLE control. Use format bring to front and see if that works.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tim,

I'm not sure you can 'Bring to Front" in Access can you. That was the
first thing I thought of doing (like you can in Word), but when you
right click on the picture, there's no "Bring to Front" or "Send to
Back" option. You were right though, in regard to it being in front. I
found out how it happened - the picture was only infront of those other
controls which I made after I inserted the picture..... so I just
inserted the picture, copy-deleted and then pasted the text box and HEY
PRESTO, the YES/NO showed up through the red circle. If only you could
see it Mr Marshall..... it looks very special indeed.

Thanks for you help mate,

Reg

I have a circle that displays information in 1-degree increments - there are 90 such increments that comprise the circle. I need a pointer within the circle that rotates. The pointer must include areas to the left and right of the center line so that a person is better able to see when something is within 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 marks (degrees) of its neighbors. I can use a line and get it to rotate - that is no problem. The problem is drawing an...

I'm having majour issues with FrontPage 2K and a webpage that I am having to create from scratch based on someone else's prior work. I hope someone can look at the source code for the page in question and tell me where my code is going wrong that I am getting things to load incorrectly. The situation is this: The owner wants "picture pages" that can be printed out exactly as fliers and pages that were created for print years ago. ...

Hi: I have a Bill of Lading template from the printer that I saved as a BMP. I created a new report and in the report's picture property told it the BMP file name. It brought the image in just fine. I then placed the fields in the report. Then I previewed the report. The picture resized or something and all of my nice fields were no longer in the same position. It didn't make any difference if I selected Crop, Zoom, or...

Hi there. I have one question... How can I create a bitmap (programmatically), paint it to a picture box and have a transparent background? I don't know what will be below the picturebox because the user can move it around, so there could be a textbox, another picture, a button or nothing below the picture box. Setting the background color of the bitmap and of the picturebox to color.transparent does not seem to work. Another...

If the image contain white pixel it has remove it completely from the image and has to give the final image without the White background . If the image dosent have any white background we can use the image as it is. Please provide me the code as soon as possible. Flash Action Script 2.0 is being used.

I have a form with a PictureBox control on it. The .Image property is set to a PNG file(which shows the picture of the US map) with some transparency in it. The .BackColor property is set to Transparent. This so far, works perfect. I now, would like to put another PNG image(an arrow showing positioning on the map) over the last PictureBox. The problem i'm having, the background for this second PictureBox only stays transparent when...

Hi, I'm using PHP 5. I was wondering given an image, a.jpg, how can I make an image that would look like you slid a white index card (which I have a file, white.jpg with the same dimensions as a.jpg) over a.jpg? Note that you'd be sliding the image from top to bottom or from left to right, but not both. Thanks, let me know if this makes sense ... it's a litlte hard to describe.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
