What Works
I have a subform (Events1) with a combo box field called “eventname”.
The combo box displays the correct information from the second column of
its lookup table, i.e., column #1: “eventID”, column #2: “eventname”,
(The ”Column Count” is “2”; the “Column Widths” is “ 0";1" “; the “Bound
Column” is “1”; and “Limit to List” is “Yes”. The, “eventsname” field
is located on a subform called, “Events1”.).
Once a choice is made from the combo box in the “Events”1 subform, the
end-user clicks on a button and navigates to a popup form (frmMain)
(with a different table of course).
The frmMain popup form, with a subform (frmStatus), opens; it is
supposed to open with a field in the subform, “frmStatus” populated with
information from the combo box field “eventname” of the “Events1” form.
What Does NOT Work
However, instead of displaying information from the second column,
“eventname” field, I get the record autonumber from the first column of
the table field, “eventID” instead.
The only difference I can see is that the form with the field intended
for populating is on a tab control on a sub-form.
Is either the PATH or Tab Control the problem?
I know that when you populate a field with information from another
form, you have to write the full path for pointing to the field
location. Could the tab control be getting in the way of the path
description? The following is the method I used:
FIRST FORM -
Information Source Main Form: Events Main
Subform: Events1
Field: eventname (combo box
field)
POPUP FORM -
Information Target Main Form: frmMain
Subform: frmStatus
Tab: tabStatus, and located
on the tab,
Field: eventname (I get the
autonumber instead when this form opens.)
In the Properties area of the, “frmStatus” subform, I have the following
code:
Private Sub Form_Current()
Me.eventname = [Forms]![Events Main]![events1].[Form]![eventname]
End Sub
