This is my first posting so please be gentle
I've been writing access programs for only about a year and may have
bit off more than I can chew but.......
I've written an operations program for work that encompasses simple
workorder entry, purchase orders, vendors and customer lists. My data
is kept in a database on our network and the programs are linked and
sitting seperatly on each workers desktop (about 6 people). When I was...

My application was set to open the Switchboard as the default startup
form. It worked fine up until recently. Now it won't "remember" that
the default form should be the Switchboard and the field under Tools >
Startup is blank and won't retain a value.
Have Access 97 on W2K
Thanks in advance

Hi, I have a question about the startup strategie for my asp.net application.
The application is a website, with behind it a backend webservice used to
retrieve and store data in the choosen database.
When the application starts, one of the first things the app does is loading
the entire dictionary, and the security settings. These are stored an
hastable in the HttpContext.
Question 1: The startup of the application is much to slow....

Hello everybody,
I just wondered if anybody else has noticed this?
It takes around 6 seconds to start debugging a very simple ASPX page
with VS.NET whereas VB6 takes under 0.5 seconds, even with
very large and complex projects.
This is a real shame :(

I know the 2 GB file size limit in Access, and my database apparently
has hit it. My problem is, I've gone and deleted tables that contained
old data, but when I check file size again, it reports exactly the same
size! I even made a copy of it, and deleted tables that I know were
the larger tables, yet I still get the same file size. I checked it in
DOS as well....still the same. Is there some sort of cleaning routine
I can do to get...

I get the following message when I try to open my database:
The Microsoft Jet Database engine stopped the process because you and
another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time.
There is no other user. I have not changed anything on my computer or
in the database recently. I've tried to find/delete the
databasename.LDB file-couldn't find it. Tried to use WhoLockMe
program-No response.
Can you solve this problem? ...

I have a custom message form that I want to display when the user shuts down
my app. Some clean up needs to be done during shutdown and I want to display
this form and then display various messages in the label on the form as the
shutdown cleanup proceeds.
I have a hidden Startup form. So in the Startup form OnClose event, I am
loading the message form and then changing the label caption as the code
proceeds to do the cleanup of...

Access 2003
I've been experiencing some problems with my "monster" database the
last couple of days. I imported all objects into a new database
yesterday, which pretty much stopped the crashing problems, but here's
something weird: Whenever I copy an object (reports so far), I am
able to open it and make changes, but when I try to save it (without
closing), it appears to save (message box goes off), but it doesn't.
Then, if I try to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
