For a Field or Property object, this property is read/write until the object is appended to a collection or to another object, after which it's read-only

Hi Folk

I am working with the TYPE property. I want to change that from 2 (byte) to
4 (long integer) for a field that already contains tons of data. How can I
do that?

The help reads:

For a Field or Property object, this property is read/write until the object
is appended to a collection or to another object, after which it's
read-only.

So how can I un-append fix and re-append?

Cheers

You could either create a new field with the required type, copy the data
into the new column with an update query, then delete the old column. I
believe this is the only approach if you are using the DAO object model.
You could try a data definition query - such as:
CurrentDb.Execu te "ALTER TABLE MyTable ALTER COLUMN MyColumn INTEGER"
Which will turn it into a long integer.
