Deploying program with an MSDE back end.

Hello,

I would like to start using MSDE as a back end for my Access database. I
would like to know two things;

1) Is there a better way of connecting to an MSDE database in Access other
than ODBC?

2) Is there any difficulty using the package and deployment wizard to have
the database deploy and register properly on the target machine?

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank You!

I want to move my Access 2K database into MSDE. The Access Upsizing Wizard crashes (a known bug wi A2K), so I'm using the following suggested method: Access --> New --> Project (Existing Database) This asks for the name of the .adp file to create and then launches into the Data Link Properties dialog box (so far so good) I select my MSDE server from the drop-down, enter the sa account & passwd, attach a database file and try to...

Hi I have a VB.net windows application that uses an MSDE database I need to give the user the option to backup this data (and later restore it). Ideally I want to back the data up to an empty Access 2000 database that contains the table structure I know that I can do this by stepping through each record of each table in MSDE, inserting them into the correct Access table, but i recon this will take a long time and is not very efficient ...

My team is in the process of building a .NET Windows Application that we plan to ship to clients on cd format for a local install. We were planning on using the MSDE version of SQL as the data storage, but I'm not sure if it will support multiple users in a network. Can anyone share with me what is the standard way of distributing such applications?

Hi I have been developing on MS Access / Jet / VBA platform for about 2 years. The current project I am working on for a small business is built on Access 2002. It has about 53 tables in 2 backend MDB files, 125 queries, 109 forms & subforms, 43 reports & subreports, 20 code modules and some macros. The size of the backend is now at a modest size of about 4MB (down

Hello All, Hello All, What are the ToDo's / Gotchas to convert an MDB Access 2K2 database to an Access Project (i.e. ADP) file for the front end using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) for the back end? Now for the background. I have a prototype MDB file that was built in Access 2K2, and compiled in Access 2K to provide backward

Howdy! I have a question for all you smarties... I have a ASP.Net application running on Windows 2000 Professional and MSDE, same box. While running the application, users will randomly receive a too many connections error or even a simple Page cannot be displayed. I know some of the limitations of MSDE and have managed to fudge my way around them, but what about Win2kPro IIS? I'm thinking it won't let me a host an active application on...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
