Editing Subform Link Fields

Hello,
Using Access 2003 SP-1.

I have a form which contains a subform. Each form represents a table,
and is linked by two fields. These fields are also related in the
underlying tables, with referential integrity and cascading updates
enabled.

The problem occurs when I attempt to update one of the link fields in
the parent form. Instead of displaying the cascaded updates (i.e. not
changing), the subform will display the new results based on the link
field (usually an empty table). If I then try to change records I am
given the following message:
"Cannot perform cascading operation. There must be a related record in
table 'Produced'."

It would appear that the link is updating before the parent has a
chance to cascade its changes to its children, and is then preventing
the cascaded changes from being written to the database.

I've tried requerying and/or refreshing both the parent or child in the
AfterUpdate even of the key field. The problem persisted.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I have two very similar forms each with a subform. The main form gets a few fields from the user and passes this back to a query that the subform is bound to. The requery is done when the user enters the last qualifying field on the main form. In one case this works fine, the subform shows the data the user wants to update -- which means showing all the data put in previously (ie showing this via the requery and the continuous...

So I think this may be a stretch, but I have a subform that is displayed on a main form. The subform is based on a query that brings records from a table(It does not bring all fields, but the main identifiers, since there would be too many to be able to display). The user specifies criteria on the form, which narrows down the number of records shown in the subform. Underneath the subform, there is another subform that consists of 25...

I have a form that displays general information about an alarm permit location. There's a subform that shows detailed information about burglar alarms that have gone off at the location. When a new alarm is entered on the subform, I want to print a report that shows the general information and the alarms that were entered. The record source for the form is the Mailing List table (key is Alarm #). The record source for the subform is the...

I'm not sure why the following isn't working. The subform loads correctly, but no data is displayed. I'm certain that there is data and I have checked that the SQL statement does in fact return that data (checked by pasting the statement into a new Access Query in the database window). Me.FutureSubform.SourceObject = "FutureProjectionSubForm" Me.FutureSubform.Form.RecordSource = "SELECT * FROM " Me.FutureSubform.Form.Requery Is...

When the vehicle entry form (frmVehicleEntryForm) first opens, the additional owner SubForm control (frmAddnlOwnrListSubForm) is enabled. You can click on it and it will accept the focus. But after you enter data to the first field on the main form (a VIN#), that is not the case. The SubForm control becomes disabled and will not accept the focus. Dunno why. There's no child/master link fields. They have no settings - at least not in design...

I have a form in Access 2007 containing a subform. The control source of the latter is SELECT DISTINCTROW ., ., ., ., . FROM ; which is undoubtedly correct. However, if I click on the down arrow on the subform header (the one that should bring up the sort and filter menu) I get this error:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
