Hello guys,
I've been building a search facility for an intranet site I'm part of
developing and we've been building a search engine using Index Server.
It mostly works, however there have been a few niggling problems and
fixing it seems to be a case of patching errors as we find them so I'm
thinking that it might be worth starting the logic from scratch and
rebuilding this again.
Basically we have a simple search, which is simply a...

I've never needed it before but now I do!
Does anyone know if you are able to perform a NOT Like search using Classic
ASP ADO?
i.e. myData.Filter = "Ref NOT LIKE '*1234*'"
by the way this doesn't work!! and neither does myData.Filter = "Ref <> LIKE
'*1234*'"

I am starting an encryption project for my database and I'm performing
some tests on decryption speed. A lot of my application queries use a
LIKE parameter in the WHERE clause. To keep from changing my
application I am performing all the work on the back-end; creating
views, triggers and UDFs to encrypt/decrypt the data. A problem has
arisen around the LIKE parameter, though.
Currently:
SELECT SSN, FNAME, LNAME FROM USERS WHERE LNAME...

Hi there,
is there a way to link an Access XP database to a query in a different
database (Access XP as well) like you can do with tables?
My front ends need to operate on different data segments on one database
and I would like to get around modifying them..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My problem is the last bit of coding below, the like statement does not
work. what I have is a product options field and in it is stored characters
i.e. "avcy" etc what the query does is that if I type in any single
character all the products that match the criteria should be displayed. So
if I typed in an "a" I should get 3 returns (see below) Fields could look
like this:
product.options:
bhw
djhsa

If I want to do an update query with the critera being that a field
contains a certain string anywhere within, how would I write that? Would
that be a case of using "like"?
For example I want to have the criteria met if the string "Small" is
anywhere in the field. So any of these would qualify:
Short Small
Medium Small
Small

Dear reader,
How can I filter a numeric field with Like as criteria in a query.
To filter a numeric field with <10 as criteria this will com back with the
result of those records for which the value is smaller as teen.
But in case this value is variable and you prefer to work with "Like

Ok, I'm baffled...
I'm making a query in access 97 between 2 tables. There is a field in
both tables called "DWGNO".
OPENORD has a record with a DWGNO of "00000012345"
DIEDATA has a record with a DWGNO of "12345"
I'm not doing this with VBA right now. I'm doing it through the query
gui.

I have tried just about everything that I can think of, so now I turn to you all for help!
I have created a form (titled "OAG") with an unbound textbox titled "DOW". I also have a Query that I have set up to return results using the abbreviations for the day of the week, and periods when that day is not present. For example, if the pattern is Monday, Wednesday, Friday, the query shows it as "Mon.Wed.Fri.." (periods replace Tues, Thurs, Sat,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
