I'm having a problem sending data from a socket server. The server
side reports that it has sent 4845 bytes but the client reports only
1448 bytes received. The kicker is that this ONLY happens accross the
internet... I've tested this with multiple connections. If I run the
same server and client, connect them locally I don't have a problem
with byte totals. Is there a timeout that I need to set... I've
looked at and change several...

Hello All,
I have a Windows application that uses Crystal Reports 9 (bundled Version)
developed using VS.NET 2003 on a windows server 2003 m/c.
The application has to be deployed on the client machine that has Windows
XP installed. Before deploying we make sure that .NET framework 1.1 is
installed on the XP machine. In the setup project, for support for Crystal
Reports, we have added the following merge modules:
1)Crystal_Managed2003.msm...

Hi, I have an asp application running on a dozen of winXP machines
configured as kiosks. This application stores its data on a MS access db. I
have the need to make some reports extracting data from the db, displaying
them on screen and exporting to rtf.
I've tried several commercial products, like Crystal Reports, Active Reports
and others, but one is difficult to integrate in asp, another requires an
expensive license for each machine...

Here is a report I've written about a printing problem that is being
experienced by a particular company for whom I had developed a A97 system.
After upgrading to Win XP and AXP, some printing problems have arisen. My
investigations show that it is not related to the particular system I
developed. but is affecting Access in general. So, has nothing to do with
reports being set to print to a default printer (which they all are) or to a...

I have been getting the above error message intermittently when I open any
one of five or six forms in design view, change some control formatting
(like backcolor) and try to open the form in form view.
The application is closed down, and when I reopen it, all changes have been
saved, and all appears well.
It makes no difference if I select the option to repair & backup etc or not.
I usually opt to send the error report (if only out of...

Hi,
I'm attempting to send emails for the first time using ASP.NET, so I'm
hoping there's just a beginner's error going on here for me. But my
emails aren't reaching their destination, and I don't know why.
My "development" machine is just my home machine. I'm connected to
the Internet via an AOL dialup connection.
I am running on XP Pro and my IIS server is (apparently) configured

My web app writes some binary data to a file at the client site via
Response.Write and Response.BinaryWrite. This action is accomplished
in response to a button click, with C# code behind as follows:
private void SubmitButton_Click (object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
// Set up the response to write the print file to the client
Response.Clear ();
Response.AppendHeader ("Content-Disposition",
"filename=WebPrint.prn");

I've just developed an Windows application that uses Crystal Reports
(v10 ? - the version that ships with VS2005).
Whilst the application works fine - reports can be viewed on the
development machine, when I create a setup project (which includes the
Crystal reports merge module), and deploy this setup file to another
machine (a fresh install of WinXP Pro with SP2), the reporting section
does not work...
How do I get the report viewer...

I have a report that runs fine with data. If there is no data, I have
its NO Data event sending a MsgBox and cancelling the report.
Then it seems I still get the 2501 message on the Open Report command,
even though I have the code to trap Err 2501 (from many postings - all
looked the same to me) on the button the user pressed to get the
report.
I never see the code going to my error handling on the button. If I
debug, I am in an...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
