Huge problem with Access 2003

Hello to all

I have a huge problem with Access 2003 with SP1, installed on WinXP Pro SP2
with all the current updates. I've tried everything including installing
Office again, and again and again.
I can't create any new form using wizard based on data of existing tables.
That is valid for reports too. Whenever I start any of the wizards to
create for example a form based on a table that has around 40 entries,
wizard displays only first field. When I delete that first field, wizard
then displays next field in the table, but never all of the fields from the
table. Strange isn't it?
Furthermore, switchboard manager can't create switchboard. It starts
working, but then displays messagge "The constant you entered for the
control type is invalid".
I've tried to use wizards on new databases, and everything happens again.
And also, one other thing:
I create a new database, then I select "create new table using wizard" from
the menu, and then when I try to use some of the fields from the sample
tables, it can't create new table, because it constantly is displaying
error messages saying "invalid argument" and "invalid operation"
I've tried with some previous databases - i get same thing(s). And when i
take those databases to another computer I have with same configuration,
everything works fine.
I've tried to re-register jet dll's and to change wizard files, it doesn't
work. I've downloaded latest patches. I've tried to repair installation,
i've reinstalled complete Office, and nothing.
Now I have a computer that works perfectly with everythin (including other
Office components), but not with Access. Help anyone?

Hate to start with the basics, but...have you run an error check on the
disk where you're creating your new database? Have you eliminated the
possibility of a virus?

Do you have these problems when you try to create a table or form in
the sample northwind.mdb database? It is not clear from your post if
you are working with a database that existed prior to your installation
of Office 2003 or if you have created a new database. Have you tried a
compact and repair of the database itself? Also, what references are
checked from the VBA code window (press ctrl-G, then go to Tools,
References in the VBA code window to see the References dialog)? I
know these kinds of problems are frustrating. Post again with a bit
more information and perhaps we can help.

I was out of town for couple of days so I couldn't post. So, I'm going to
explain it a bit further using your questions as a start.
have you run an error check on the disk where you're creating your new database?
Yes. Of course. As a matter of fact this is a brand new laptop with clean
instalation of WinXP sp2.

Have you eliminated the possibility of a virus?
Yes. With one of the best tools. No viruses.
Do you have these problems when you try to create a table or form in the sample northwind.mdb database?
Yes. I get this problem when I use a sample database, when I use my
previously created databases (created on another computer) or when I use
freshly created one. It happens on all the databases that I try.
Have you tried a compact and repair of the database itself?
Yes. That was the first thing I tried.
Also, what references are

checked from the VBA code window (press ctrl-G, then go to Tools,
References in the VBA code window to see the References dialog)?
Visual basic for applications
Microsoft Access 11.0 Object Library
OLE automation
Microsoft Office 11.0 Object Library
Microsoft DAO Object Library
Those are checked.

Also let me tell yu another bizzare thing that happens. I start new
database. And then I choose to create table using a wizard, and choose to
use sample tables.
If I choose to have all the fields from the sample table and click on the
icon (>>) so I can put all of them in my new table instead of field names I
get numbers. For example field with label "First name" becomes field
labeled with name "1", field labeled as "Nickname" becomes field with label
"988". And furthermore, when I click on next in order to create table I get
error saying "There was an unexpected error ceating a table"
I don't really know what is going on, I 've never encountered this kind of
behaviour in Access before. Hope this description brought some more light
on the problem. TNX in advance

It's baffling. What happens when you repair your Access installation
(clicking Help, Detect and Repair, and click the 'Discard my
settings...' checkbox)? Have you tried starting Windows in safe mode
and then seeing if the problems persist? Do you have another version
of Access or Office installed on this machine? If so, I'd delete all
versions of both and delete the directories/folders they were installed
to (i.e., delete the 'microsoft office' folder under c:\program
files\). Then I'd reinstall Office 2003 alone and see if it works.
Also make sure you're not running out of disk space and be sure you
have TEMP and TMP environment variables set (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;825444 ,
section 'Temporary Folder Issues'...I know this is for Win2000 but
there is good information there that pertains to any Access 2003
installation). Let me know what happens.
