table distribution

Hi all,

I have an application that use a lot of tables.

All those tables are located in 4 different mdb files.

I am wondering would it be better to put all the table in the same files?
What are the pros and the cons?

One of the table contains large binary object. I intend to leave that one in
a
separated mdb files. is that ok or it make no difference?

regards,

pierre

Pierre,
Q1: How many is *a lot* of tables ? 20 , 40, 100 ?
Q2: What size is your backend ?

Well it depends on the application I guess, but IMO the tables should be located in *only one* backend if possible.
Maintenance and distribution is, of course, much easier when there is only one backend involved.

WHY are your tables located in 4 mdb's now ?
If you don't have a specific reason, then put them in one mdb.

If you hit Access limits you HAVE to go another way, but I see hardly any advantage when you use more than one backend.
I can in fact only think of possible corruption. (if so, not all your date is involved...).

I develop fairly 'big' databases sometimes (>500.000 records in some tables). Sometimes there are more of these big one's.
Only once I have used two seperate backends, where the second backend was merely a lookup of Postal codes.
When you use relations (RI) between the tables the table must live in the same backend.
Since I always use RI ...

Hope this helps

Hi all, I'm currently managing a site with information from our members such as phonenumbers and emailaddresses, stored in a table. I would like to retrieve the emailaddresses from the table and create a distribution list from it. Right now I store the addresses twice, first in the mysql-table, and second in mailman. I would like to circumvent the second. Anyone knows how to do this?

Hello, Thanks for looking at my post and hopefully having an answer or at least a suggestion to my problem. I currently work at a financial planning office that deals with many clients and accounts. Each client may have multiple accounts such as an individual, IRA, and possibly a joint tenant account. Each one of these accounts for the particular client is contained in a 'Portfolio'. For example, Joe Smith may have 3 accounts: Joe Smith...

Hello again After getting great help perfecting my little Access 2007 movies database, I've stumbled upon an inconvenience. In my opinion it seems basic, but still I'm not able to solve it. As an example, in my form I have two fields (Production & Distribution). These are linked to 1 table (Companies). Now each time I want to enter a new company, I have to do so manually in the table. What I would like is to be able to enter the new name in...

Working on my movie database, I've yet again encountered 2 related problems that I just can't seem to fix. I've build a table (called Movies) around which I build the form. In the table there are two rows. One for the production company (called: Production) and one for the distribution company (called: Distribution). In the form I made there are two fields with the same names as in the table. Both fields are linked to another table (called:...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
