Open reports with a hidden MS Access application window

I have an Access 2000 application and I am using ShowWindow to hide the
MS Access application window. Works fine as long as there is a popup
form open all the time. The problem is when I want to open a report.
Reports seem to only be able to to open within the Access Window itself
(or am I missing something?)
To work around this I use a scheme that opens the report maximized,
then unhides and maximizes the MS Access window using

dwReturn = ShowWindow(Appl ication.hWndAcc essApp, SW_SHOWMAXIMIZE D)

then hides the access window again when the report is closed.

Is there another (better) way of doing this?
lq

'***START CODE:

Private Declare Function IsWindowVisible Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As
Long) As Long
Dim dwReturn As Long

Const SW_HIDE = 0
Const SW_SHOWNORMAL = 1
Const SW_SHOWMINIMIZE D = 2
Const SW_SHOWMAXIMIZE D = 3

Private Declare Function ShowWindow Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Long,
ByVal nCmdShow As Long) As Long

Function MaximizeApplica tionWindow()
dwReturn = ShowWindow(Appl ication.hWndAcc essApp, SW_SHOWMAXIMIZE D)
End Function

Function HideApplication Window()
dwReturn = ShowWindow(Appl ication.hWndAcc essApp, SW_HIDE)
End Function

'***END CODE

Greetings: I have a converted Access 2000 database that got replaced not converted to a Access 2003 Database file. Now the reports in Access 2003 Database will not open. I tried removing Access 2003 and then loading Access 2000. In Access 2000 it allows me to open the reports but it will not allow me to create a new report.

When I open an Access form I can have no recordset specified, then in the form's OnOpen event I can do something like: Me.paramaters = "@SomeColumn = 22)" Me.recordsource = "dbo.sproc123" But I can't do this in a report as it will prompt me for the parameters, even though they seem to be defined ahead of the recordsource. I have worked around this by opening reports to a bogus recordsource

I have a command button on a continuous subform and I want the user to click it to open a small popup form that opens in the position of the mouse (which is the same as the position of the command button on each record of the continuous subform.) I'm hoping someone can tell me how to do this. Thanks, lq

Hi all, I asked the same question two days ago. Only answer (from Lyle) was a CDO-workaround. I Googled and Googled for answers and I see again that I am not the only one struggling with this issue. Lots of hits yes, but lots and lots of these questions with no answer at all... One 'final' solution is about deleting a regkey, that also in my case does not exist... Question again: While trying to send mail from Access a client sees the...

Do you have your users rely on the windows taskbar to manage/navigate between the forms they have open, or do you provide another (more robust) method? Does anyone use a custom navigation system (like keeping a selectable list of open forms in a listbox/commandbar/ breadcrumb trail etc.)?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
