Javier,

The Access Web at www.mvps.org probably has some API call examples
which will show you how to do this.

If not, then vbnet.mvps.org almost certainly does. The APIs used will
reference system dlls, so it may be necessary to account for a
particular OS version in your code. VBNet will have the appropriate
examples.

This is regarding a change in the Short Date format under Hebrew Regional Settings, that has caused huge problems in our ASP web application. The change appears to have been introduced sometime before Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and has remained through to Windows XP. I am looking for a solution that doesn't involve rewriting our application (much) and that allows all our users to keep using Hebrew Regional Settings. To summarize our...

I've written an application with vb.net 2003 (framework 1.1) which automates a 3rd party viewing/printing application (via an activex control). I've released several versions over the last year without problem, but since getting a new laptop, people can't run the program since I built it with the new machine. Even if I take the modified code and build it with my old machine, it still crashes. I thought maybe it was the code, but it...

I have a problem of different date formats in an international study, where the data entry module and error checking module are delivered to the data collecting centres. Error checking module displays queries for edit specifications, many of them with dates. For exmple in Sweden, date format is YYYY-MM-DD, this are how dates are displayed; However, the input mask had been specified for tables as dd/mm/YYYY. This makes problematic using...

Hello there! Here is my problem, in the simplest scenario: - an Access 2000 format database (created with Access 2003) - a simple table that contains one single field defined as Number, Decimal, 18,2 - VS2005 standard, C# - a data source / dataset that cotains that simple Access table - a DataGridView, created by drag and drop, with all the helper objects (adapter, navigator etc) that edits that simple table

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
