I have a windows form that is bound to a datatable. In VB6
I could just update the field contents and it would be
updated in the database, however if I update the text
property of the control from code it is 50% chance that
the update will make it back to the dataset. If I update
the dataset instead of the form, it does not show on the
form.
Is there a method that should be used?

Hi,
I'm having some troubles with bound controls on a windows form.
When I start the form, the dataset gets filled with records. Then the
controls on the form are bound to fields in the dataset. Works fine.
One bound control is on a tabcontrol (tab 3). The .text property of the
control has the value 1001. This strange thing happens:
If I don't switch to tab3 first but stay on tab1, the bound control on tab3

understand why people who know how to write code to completely replace
a front end do not write something that will automate the code that
implements managing unbound controls on forms given the superior
performance of unbound controls in a client/server environment. I can
easily understand a newbie using bound controls or someone with a

Hi,
I'm trying to check for a unique value index violation on a bound
field when done editing the field (before update, on exit, on lost
focus, etc), and when I find a violation change the value to the
default "filler" value (after a warning).
The problem is that Access considers the record locked by the bound
control(s), so I can't edit it using DAO. I've tried setting focus to
other non-bound controls, but this doesn't seem to...

I'm having trouble getting control data binding to work. As I understand
it, the simplest form of databinding requires three things:
1) A control (say a textbox) on a form or user control,
2) A field or object.member to which you want to bind,
3) A "Binding" object that connects the variable to a property of the
control ("Text" for example).

I have a datalist control with some bound controls in its Item Template
and a gridview bound to one of those fields (residing also in Item
Template).
I've found out that when I click Edit on the gridview (same happens
when editing other gridview which is outside the datalist) all datalist
bound fields (except the gridview) disappear, and they don't appear
after submitting GV changes - they do only after changing value of some

I am using a bound control to embed word documents within an access form.
I have created two buttons on the form One to embed aand display and one to close.
I embed one doc and then save the doc and close bound control then open the next doc.
Each time I open the doc an instance of winword is opened in the background, however,
when I close the bound control object (doc_container) the winword instance is not closed and is
still running....

The problem is that, in my load event, the control does not yet have any
data. I've found I can call DataBind() on that control and then it works
okay. However, this has me wondering where the control normally databinds,

So here's the situation (.NET 2.0 btw):
I have a form, and on this form is a textbox among many other
databound controls. The textbox is bound to a field in a data table
via the Text property. In this table there are multiple columns that
cannot be NULL, which, are bound to other controls (but they're not
really important at this time).

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
