Disabled Shift bypass key but want certain users to have table /query access

I set up my code to disable the shift bypass however for certain users
I want to allow them through a button no a form to be able open up the
list of tablies and queries.

Is there a vb command to open up the user interface that lets you view
the list of tables and queries that you would see if you did a shift
bypass?

You included code to re-enable the shift bypass, right? Because if not,
you won't be able to get to the database window yourself.

Assuming you did that, have a button somewhere that's only enabled for
users who are members of a certain security group, and have that button
toggle the shift bypass on and off. If a user wants to get in to the
database window, she opens the database normally, turns on the shift
key bypass, closes the databases, and opens it again, this time using
the shift key.

This would work, I had thought of your idea already but was wondering
if there was an on the ffly way of allowing user to get to the main
screen without having to close and re-open the databse.

thanks..

Well there was, until you disabled the shift key bypass of the option
that prevents them from getting to the database window <G>

Hi All, I'm writing a launcher program which checks for updates and copies them down to the client. However, I would like the user to be able to modify the settings for the launcher. As this runs automatically, I would like it to be configurable by the user holding down the shift key when double-clicking my exe, to bypass the usual update routine and start the config form. Access does something similar, by holding down the shift to...

I have search googles and there are hundreds of tips about AllowByPassKey... however, none works for me... well, perhaps I am too new to such high level functionality that it just does not make sense to me. So, anyone please help. I have no idea what is "CreateProperty" that Access help was trying to tell me to do. Can anyone please write me a step by step on how to accomplish this? (i.e. disable Shift on Startup.) I've seen many...

Although I taught pretty much myself into these concept with the help of some publications and users group posts, some time I would like to seek some specific help from fellow members. My Question is: Is there any way I can disable Shift Bypass key for regular Network users but enable that privilege to Network Administrator Groups? Our Network...

If a user starts up access while holding down the shift key, the database will open without going to the startup form. This allows the user to actually open a table and change data that he would not normally be able to change. His user name would not allow him to open a form that give him access to all fields in a record. Normally he is restricted to a form that only shows fields that he is allowed to change. Is there a way to keep...

The relationship is one to many from a master table to 3 other related tables. on the form, I have to setvalue for a few fields(colums) in the related tables based on the value I enter in the field from the master table. I kept getting "you have to save the record before you update..." kind of message. Do you have any idea how to handle this? I feel I have to set the master...

Hi i'm trying to disable the shift key from allowing users to access the design view. I've done a search in groups and know i need to somehow do AllowBypassKey. Everywhere i look there is code and answers that dont seem to work or make sense. I want to set the bypass key to be a combination of shift + B. Please could someone detail the code and let me know exactly where to place it and how to get it to run.

All those users have only SELECT privileges on certain tables. I built all the roles and users for them and they work fine. Then she asked "Why do YOU let them see all those system tables?",

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
