I'm not sure that anyone knows what you meant by "optimizati on". A little
more description of what you mean, are try to accomplish, something that
doesn't work as you expect, would be helpful.

Some general suggestions:
1. Repair and compact (under the Tools-Database Utilities menu) should be
run periodically to remove blank space/deleted objects and reindex the
tables.

2. Index (at a minimum) on the most common search/filter fields to greatly
speedup queries.

3. Each user on a network should have their own local front-end mdb linked
to a common server mdb that has the data tables.

4. Run the Analyzer (also under Tools menu) to /get tips on your database
structure.

When performance benchmark testing one of my own functions against the equivalent runtime function, I found that with /Ox on it optimized away its own function so that it didn't call it *at all* after the first loop. <psuedocode> #ifdef USE_MY_FUNC #define testfunc(x) myfunc(x) #else #define testfunc(x) runtimefunc(x) #endif QPC(start);

I just read couple articles on this group and it keeps amazing me how the portability is used as strong argument for language cleanliness. In my opinion, porting the program (so you just take the source code and recompile) is a myth started 20-30 years ago when world consisted of UNIX systems. Well, world does not consist of UNIX systems anymore, but there are 100s of different systems running in cell-phones, DVD players, game consoles...

Last year, i've posted a tutorial and commentary about Python and Perl's sort function. (http://xahlee.org/perl-python/sort_list.html) In that article, i discussed a technique known among juvenile Perlers as the Schwartzian Transform, which also manifests in Python as its “key” optional parameter. Here, i give a more detailed account on why and how of this construct. ----

Hi, I am newbie in optimization techniques and I need a little of help. I want to take adventage of the open bank and open row policy available in the processor (it can keep 4 banks open per bank, for a total of 12 banks at a time) that I am using (AU1xxx), by locating code, data, etc. on separete SDRAM bank and row boundaries. The processor's documentation says that it can be done using the

Hi, I am trying to optimize gcc for power consumption. Technique I am using is rescheduling instruction based on hamming distance between two consecutive instructions. Now I want to create a new pass after register allocation and final jump optimization. I am new to gcc development and am having trouble finding out how to create a new pass. Also I understand my scheduler will have to operate on RTL code. what would be the data...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
