Query timeout problems

Front End: Access 2000 Project (.adp)
Back End: SQL Server 2000

I have an application that keeps timing out. I have opened the
DataLink properties in the front end (File, Connection, Advanced tab)
and set the timeout to 999. But the connection still occasionally
times out.

Any ideas? Some of the SQL is pretty horrible (multiple sub-queries
etc.)

TIA

The timeout you changed is the connection timeout, so it won't affect
timeouts caused by long-running queries. Depending on what connection
library you're using (ODBC, ADO), you should be able to change the general
timeout value, but I have no idea how - perhaps an Access group might give
more help.

In ay event, if the timeouts occur during different queries, or the same
queries with different parameters, you'll probably have to try to identify
the problem queries more exactly - Profiler would be a good place to start.

I am having a problem executing long running queries from an ASP application which connects to SQL Server 2000. Basically, I have batches of queries that are run using ADO in a loop written in VBScript. This works pretty well until the execution time of a single query starts to exceed some threshold, which I am trying to narrow down. I can typically run 2 - 10 queries in a loop, with the run time being anywhere from under a minute to an...

It looks like mysql doesn't have the ability to set a query timeout. Is this true? So in the mean time I created the following perl DBI script to do it for me. #!perl # DBI service name use constant DSN => "dbi:mysql:ABC:localhost"; # database username

I have a form where users logged in using sessions can edit articles in a WYSIWYG editor. Some of them take their time and don't like to save their work very often and occassionally the sessions expire and their work goes poof. (I've suggested editing off-line and simply copy+paste but they prefer the editor.) After a lot of searching I've found the main culprit is session.gc_maxlifetime and I can set it longet like... ...

MSSQL Server 2000 SP3 in both houston and memphis I have a database in houston, lets call it RED. Specific tables from database RED are copied to database BLUE. Database BLUE is then backed up, ftp'd to memphis and restored. In memphis there is a single table in this database that will not open in enterprise manager when you choose to open all rows you get a generic ODBC timeout error no numbers just simply "TIMEOUT". If I log...

I just had the problem occur again, with NetworkStream.Write() doing its thing with a timeout... and it just sits and waits and waits and waits... it never times outs. So, I shut the server down just to see if THAT will make it at least end the function call and continue (since it's a synchronous call, so the program is delayed until it returns), and even THAT doesn't make the call end. It just sits and waits... Even IF I have a bug...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
