Keeping old office CD's for licensing

I've been upgrading since VB3 and Access 2. How long do I have to keep these
CD's around as proof of valid licensing?

PS if Access 2, you must have it on a floppy

I have ADT 2.0 on CD. I can't find the A2 floppies. VB3 also came on
floppies which are long gone but I think I still have the images on disk
somewhere.

Fortunately all of my current computers have OEM versions of XP on them, so
I don't have to worry about digging up those old WFW 3.11 disks, the Win98
CD's or any of that crap.

I found pointing the prompt for previous version for upgrade to look at
the new version's CD worked?!?

I too have kept all the old crap back to "day one" (packrat!), and I'm
running out of shelf space!

MS Works (which comes pre-installed on many "beginner" system bundles) still
appears to be on the elegible program list for buying the Office 2003
Upgrade version.

So that may be your / our answer. Check the "elegible products" list.

Keep the newest "qualifying product" and scrap the rest?
I'd also recommend keeping any/all Developer Editions of Office ... they're
like gold, and you never know when you'll need them!

I was going through them that night and came across the Office 95 stuff. I
remember there was a delay in MS's releasing of Access with that product
because they didn't have it working. Then, they released the product and it
still didn't work. (I suppose normal people have family photo albums. I have
fifteen years of backups, CD's, diskettes, etc.)

I skipped 2000 and 2003 but otherwise have the developers edition of

Maybe :) There is probably an ms newsgroup somewhere on licensing. Hell,
there may even be "licensing consultants", but I suppose they're just
salespeople in disguise.

That's an interesting thought. I've always insisted that, when somebody asks
me to do a runtime for them, that I do it in a current version of Access. As
of late, though, I've stopped pushing the run-time and have become insistant
that people install Access on their computers.
