Keeping old office CD's for licensing

I've been upgrading since VB3 and Access 2. How long do I have to keep these
CD's around as proof of valid licensing?

Until Microsoft no longer sells licences, only leases them.
I'm keeping mine for a bit.

PS if Access 2, you must have it on a floppy

I have ADT 2.0 on CD. I can't find the A2 floppies. VB3 also came on
floppies which are long gone but I think I still have the images on disk
somewhere.

Fortunately all of my current computers have OEM versions of XP on them, so
I don't have to worry about digging up those old WFW 3.11 disks, the Win98
CD's or any of that crap.

Hi,

I too have kept all the old crap back to "day one" (packrat!), and I'm
running out of shelf space!

MS Works (which comes pre-installed on many "beginner" system bundles) still
appears to be on the elegible program list for buying the Office 2003
Upgrade version.

So that may be your / our answer. Check the "elegible products" list.

Keep the newest "qualifying product" and scrap the rest?
I'd also recommend keeping any/all Developer Editions of Office ... they're
like gold, and you never know when you'll need them!

I was going through them that night and came across the Office 95 stuff. I
remember there was a delay in MS's releasing of Access with that product
because they didn't have it working. Then, they released the product and it
still didn't work. (I suppose normal people have family photo albums. I have
fifteen years of backups, CD's, diskettes, etc.)

I skipped 2000 and 2003 but otherwise have the developers edition of
everything.

Maybe :) There is probably an ms newsgroup somewhere on licensing. Hell,
there may even be "licensing consultants", but I suppose they're just
salespeople in disguise.

That's an interesting thought. I've always insisted that, when somebody asks
me to do a runtime for them, that I do it in a current version of Access. As
of late, though, I've stopped pushing the run-time and have become insistant
that people install Access on their computers.

I'm going to have a development machine in my office that I first apply any schema / stored-procedure changes to, then would like to roll out

Hi I own the full Office 2000 Pro suite and would like to distribute an Access database. I realize that I need to buy Office 2000 Dev Tools and I saw it for sale on a website for £20. The guy selling it says and i quote "there isnt a licence number with it, it installs on top of your current office 2000 and uses the licence from that." Is this correct?

Has anyone had success with Office Web Components with Access? What I have in mind is a site where Access users can log in and update their Access databases with new records that have been uploaded by other Access users. Or perhaps I could have a "shared records" page where anyone can update/add to a shared record. The purpose is to have a "sometimes connected" Access application where folks can log on and share/update/synchronize...

I have the original Office XP Pro disc, but have lost the CD key. I used an upgrade 2003 disc, which has the CD key still. I cannot reinstall the 2002 version without the CD key; all of the 'search' programs such as magicjellybean give the CD key for the current i.e upgraded version. Can i get the CD key using the disc? Othr suggestions?? -- Andrew Granger

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
