I have to copy a FE/BE Access 2002 database on a regular basis to a CD
to take to another site to use at that site. The data does not have to
be up to the minute at that site.
Is there a simple way to copy the db with the linked tables but without
the links? In other words, the complete db would be usable on any
computer anywhere. I would really appreciate some help with this asap
as my boss is breathing down my neck. Thanks!
Create a new blank database.
Click File + Get External Data + Import
Navigate to the back end.
Select all the tables. nClick Options. Select Relationships, Menu and
Toolbar, and Import/Export specs in the Import options, and also
Definitions and data from the import Table options.
Click OK.
Click File + Get External Data + Import (again).
Navigate to the front end.
Select all the Forms, Queries, Reports, Macros, Modules, etc.
NOTE: If the Front end includes any tables (that are not on the back
end), select those as well.
Click OK.
Save the database.
Copy it to a disk.
If you copy it to a CD, it will be read only if you attempt to open
it.
Copy the database from th CD onto the new computer.
Right-Click on the database icon.
Select Properties. Uncheck the Read Only box.
Now it is ready for interactive use.
That should be all you need.
