I've figured out how to insert subdatasheets into tables and queries - just
open the table/query, select subdatasheet from the Insert menu, and play
around with the Link Child/Link Master fields until you get what you're
looking for. Easy enough.
But how do I use these in my forms? I tried dragging a table with a
subdatasheet directly onto a form in design view, but when I opened the
form, no little crosses. I don't want to give my users direct access to the
tables. How do I get subdatasheets into a subform? Is there a way to open
a table/query with a subdatasheet inside a form? Other alternatives?
Thanks in advance. 2 25561
To get a subdatasheet into a form, you need to create a subform in Datasheet
view. Create a second form to use as the subform, set it to datasheet view,
and drag/drop it into the main form. Set the Child/Master links as
appropriate.

Both the form & the subform have to be datasheets. The way I do it is
create the 2 forms making sure the only view possible is Datasheet; then
open the main form in design view & drag the subdatasheet form onto the
main form.
In Acc2000 and Acc2002 I've found that sometimes the "little cross"
doesn't show up when the form opens! I've done things to the forms
(which I don't remember what) and the cross appears. Hmm... Not sure
what causes that. Maybe someone else knows.

Howdy all.
Appreciate your help with several problems I'm having:
I'm trying to determine if the Visit subform (subformVisits) has a new
record or been changed, i.e. dirty. The form that contains the subform is
named Clients.
I have this code in the Add Client btn:
If Forms!Clients.subformVisits!VisitDirty = True Then
MsgBox "Visit subform is dirty!"

I have created a form with a subform that displays the results of a query in
datasheet
view. I'd like to be able to expand subdatasheets for each record listed in
the subform datasheet.
The query itself has the "+" signs that allow me to see the subdatasheets.
However, when I view the same query via the subform, the "+"s are missing.
How can I get the "+"s to appear in the subform datasheet?

Hi,
I am working on a genealogy form. The only table (so far) lists everybody
in the family, one record per person. Each record has an autonum ID.
The parent form (frmMainForm) displays the data in each record, which
includes the ID of the father and the mother (who also have records in the
table). One record per form.
I have a Tab Control in the form, and in one of the tabs I have a subform
(sfmSiblings) in which I wish to list...

Hi,
I have two very similar forms each with a subform. The main form gets
a few fields from the user and passes this back to a query that the
subform is bound to. The requery is done when the user enters the
last qualifying field on the main form.
In one case this works fine, the subform shows the data the user wants
to update -- which means showing all the data put in previously (ie
showing this via the requery and the continuous...

I've got a form that currently has a list box used to "find a record
on my form" but the list in it is far too long and consists of fields
of repeating data.
Is there a way of creating a subform to do the same job that is in
datasheet view with a collapsible subdatasheet?
The main form is based on a table consisting of dates, events and
venues (plus a lot of other guff not needed to explain this little
problem). Each record has an ID,...

All,
Since upgrading to Access 2003 from 2002, I've noticed that all of the linked table subdatasheets I had set up in 2002 with simple relationships are now not working in 2003. Since the majority of what I do with Access is simple inserts and edits, having to bounce around multiple tables and "find" the rows based on the previous table's PK in a list of thousands, makes 2003 completely unusable. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks!

Hello
I am trying to pass the name of my subform to a function/sub but I can't
seem to get it to work. I am using an autokey function (ctrl E) to unlock
text boxes on a subform. I have a few forms in the database that will use
this function, so I need to be able to tell the code which form to unlock.
What I have is as follows:
Public Function akeyEdit()

In a table I can easily get those expanding nodes (+ and - signs) to

A form contains controls, one or more of which can be other forms. A form that contains another form is known as a main form. A form contained by a main form is known as a subform. A subform itself can contain other forms, sometimes known as subsubforms. This article deals only with main forms and their immediate subforms.
The books about Access I’ve read contain some useful information about subforms, but don’t adequately cover the matter of...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
