Clear all controls for new record

Hello,

I'm working on an MS Access Form that has a list box (Name) which
display details based on my selection in a combo box (Number).
Everything is working fine except when I start a new record. The list
box (Name) still displays the previous selection's details. For
example, for my first record, I choose F181 from my combo box. My list
box will display "North Iowa". I finish filling out the rest of the
form and go to the 2nd record. Even though I have not selected
anything from my combo box for my 2nd record, "North Iowa" is still
displayed in my list box (carried over from the previous record).

I would like my form to be complete "empty" whenever I start a new
record (i.e. the first control in my form has focus by either tabbing
through all 10 controls or by using the navigation buttons at the
bottom of the form).

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Add a subroutine to the Form.AfterUpdat e event to clear any stray
values after you write the previous record back to the base tables:

<uncompiled code>

Private Sub MyForm_AfterUpd ate
ClearForm
End Sub

Private Sub ClearForm()
Me.lstName.Valu e = ""
' etc...
Me.Repaint
EndSub

</uncompiled code>

You could optionally add it to the ComboBox.OnEnte r event...
Private Sub MyCombo_OnEnter
ClearForm
End Sub

I built a form to access a query with a 2 field primary key. It should use 2 controls to find the unique record and display the other field values on the form. In the criteria section of the query, I set the 2 primary key values equal to the 2 control values on my form. When I input a value to these 2 controls the query finds the correct record, so I know my query with the criteria works. My problem is trying to get the output values...

I have a subform which is in Continuous Forms view. I have added a button to the bottom of the page to move to the next record using the button wizard (result: DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext). I want all of the controls in whatever is the CURRENT record to have it's data bolded on the screen. (Question #1: Is there a SIMPLE way to refer to the Current Record?) I've been trying to use a Bookmark to specify the current record, but it

What I do now is I put a value in the tag property, and using the form_current event, I run through all controls properties until the ones with the required tag value are met. Sound OK in theory, but it is ... slow. I thought having a table with the name, type of controls and put my 'tag value' there. At the opening of the form, I would retrieve a recordset from the table, and perform a subroutine on the current event to lock/unlock...

Hi All, I have a mainform with a subform in which I show some task summary data. On the mainform I have a number of unbound controls that reflect values relevant to each task in the subform. The unbound controls are populated in the subform's OnCurrent even from a number of different tables related to the records in tbl_tasks, which is the recordset displayed in the subform.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
