can update query or whatever make this possible?

Hello all,

I have a problem, wishing somebody can help, this is the case, in the table
order_detail:

ProductNumber price quantity

001 1.00 5
002 2.00 3
003 2.50 2
002 2.00 1
003 2.50 1

what should I do if I want to see it like:

001 1.00 5
002 2.00 4
003 2.50 3
Many thanks in advance,

Paul

Click Query/New/Design. Add your OrderDetail table and hit close. Now
drag the 3 fields down. From the menu click View/Totals. In the totals
row set the productid and price to groupby and sum under qty. Run it
and see if that does what you want.

I want to be able to generate SQL statements that will go through a list of data, effectively row by row, enquire on the database if this exists in the selected table- If it exists, then the colums must be UPDATED, if not, they must be INSERTED. Logically then, I would like to SELECT * FROM <TABLE> WHERE ....<Values entered here>, and then IF FOUND UPDATE <TABLE> SET .... <Values entered here> ELSE INSERT INTO <TABLE> VALUES <Values...

been ruminating on the question (mostly in a 390/v7 context) of whether, and if so when, a row update becomes an insert/delete. i assume that there is a threshold on the number of columns of the table, or perhaps bytes, being updated where the engine just decides, screw it, i'll just make a new one. surfed this group and google, but couldn't find anything. the context: we have some java folk who like to parametize/

Hi First up, I am using MS Access 2002. I have a database which records analyst rating changes for a list of companies on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the database has been set up (by my predecessor, I hasten to add) so that each day it creates a copy of the record for each company, changes the date to today's date, and prompts the user for any changes of ratings on that day. The resulting data table grows by approx 600 records per...

I've tried each of the below, but no luck. UPDATE tblEntity As tbl INNER JOIN search3220 As qry ON tbl.Entity_ID = qry.Entity_ID SET tbl.Cat_ID = 289; UPDATE tblEntity INNER JOIN search3220 ON tblEntity.Entity_ID = seach3220.Entity_ID SET tblEntity.Cat_ID = 289; The only issue I can imagine aside from syntax is that Entity_ID is not unique in the query. tblEntity will only have one Entity_ID of 1700, for

I have to import a tab-delimited text file daily into Access through a macro. All of the data needs to be added to an existing table. Some of the data already exists but may be updated by the imported text file. I can update the data through an update query or append the entire import table through an append query. Is there a way to combine the two so that I can update existing records and append only new records (without duplicating...

Hi, I'm trying to make a very simple update statement (in Oracle) in jet sql that seems much more difficult than it should be. The root of my problem is that I'm trying to update a field on a table using dmax, which references another query to update the table. Although I have all of the correct keys from the physical table joined to the query in the dmax function, the code/ms access seems to ignore the joins. As a result, all payees...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
