Import Corrupts DB?

Something's going on locally with my Access 2000.

Whenever I import an object from another .MDB, it damages the receiving DB to
the point where I have to rebuild from the last backup. Repair/Compact doesn't
work.

Whole objects disappear, and when a compile is attempted the message "Error
accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." appears.

Anybody been here?

RE/
SP3 is installing as I write this.

If the problem persists, I'll just uninstall Access 2003.

SP3 seems to have fixed it - as advertised.

Another thing: this box is now *fast* when working w/MS Access files.
Before, I thought it was time for a system drive format/rebuild it was getting
so slow.

Yeah, but we're a happy club!

Yeah, well, at most I would lose a few hours.
Too bad more people aren't members though....

They haven't been bit yet. They will be.

Agree with other posts. Appears you don't have SP3 installed with the latest
Jet.

Hi, I've been trying to embed (statically) wxPy alongside an embedded py interpreter on a linux/gtk box. At one point, for some reason misc.o linking reported "multiple definitions of wxGetFreeMemory()". Since wxGetFreeMemory() seemed effectively unused in gtk, I just commented it out in misc_wrap.cpp (didn't want to patch SWIG to regenerate the wrapper code, so hacked the generated cpp source), and replaced...

I have a weird .RC corruption problem with MSVC .NET 2003. I have a .RC file that has been in use for years with .NET inside a project called Netcount. Recently I upgraded to .NET 2003 and migrated the project. Now, everytime I access the resources to change a dialog or so, then, when I compile, the compiler halts with errors: Generating Code... It appears that (windows) python searches in the current working directory before looking in the local site-packages directory, or that '.' comes first in sys.path? The problem arises when I made the mistake of running a test program from the same directory where I built and installed my package. Python uses the package from the current directory, which misses the pyd files, instead of the site-packages package which has them installed. ...

Folks: We have a web-based app that's _really_ slowing down because multiple clients are writing their own private data into a single, central database. I guess the previous programmer did things this way because it made things easy. Well, I'm the person that has to put up with the long-term headache. Anywho, someone at work wants things sped up, so what I'm looking at doing is this for each client:

I get python crashes and (in better cases) strange Python exceptions when (in most cases) importing and using cookielib lazy on demand in a thread. It is mainly with cookielib, but remember the problem also with other imports (e.g. urllib2 etc.). And again very often in all these cases where I get weired Python exceptions, the problem is around re-functions - usually during re.compile calls during import (see some of the exceptions below). But...

Every once in a while I modify one particular form (could be anything from adding code to tweaking properties as far as I can see) and upon loading I get; "You can't assign a value to this object" The form is now completely blank and I can only see anything if I switch to design view. I am kaking changes that will break the form admittedly but those are bugs of course and I expect to be able to fix them.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
