Access Reports into Powerpoint

Is there anyway to convert/export/copy an Access report into a
Powerpoint slide?

I know I can publish via Excel/Word but these remove formatting etc
and therefore always require some degree of manipulation.

My report data obviously changes from time to time and I want to avoid
having to reformat/update manually.

Thanks

I would too be interested in an answer to this.

At the moment, I print the document to a pdf using pdf995 and then copy the
information into Powerpoint. This works for reports and graphs from Access.

The other way I tried was to use automation and create the reports directly
in Word / Excel.

There is a detailed article and a couple of KB articles on the MS site
dealing with publishing reports to Snapshot format where the reports
will be updated on a regular basis.

Less complex, would be to embedd the Snapshot ActiveX control, one on
each Slide of your presentation. Setup each control to point to the
propert page of your report.

Another alernative would be to use the ReportUtilities on my site to
publish your Report to a series of Enhanced Metafiles(EMF's ), one for
each page of your report. The result is the same as exporting to
Snapshot format. EMF's are directly insertable onto your Slide and are
fully scaleable/resolution independant. You could automate the process
completely with abit of VBA code.

I guess it depends what you're aiming for. Your choices are:

* Take a screen shot of the report, and paste the image into PPT.
Crop the window edges.

* Export your data to html, or xml, and use a css to apply the
formatting.

* Write OLE Automation code to post your Access data into PowerPoint
through VBA code.

Am having some success at exporting reports to word as a generic operation.
I can export text, labels, pictures and rtf2 controls reasonably well, but I
am struggling with sub reports at the moment although, a solution is in
sight. Everything is editable in the word document.
Would really like an expert to take it on as a project as I suspect I am
writing the code in a very amateurish way.

Dare say the same techniques could be used with PowerPoint

I have tried the screen shot but depending on the font/print
format/cropping process/resizing the results can be variable.

Thanks for your suggestions though - I have also tried the others but
with little success.

I am reading Access VBA for Dummies so hope might find a few pointers
there.

It's a shame that that Chapter 14 - Integrating with other Office
Applications - covering Word, Excel and Outlook doesn't extend to
Powerpoint.

It maybe thought that I can export to Excel and link this to
Powerpoint as a way that might be possible for me with limited
knowledge of vba & some of the more advanced aspects of Access.

Thanks everyone

One of my fellow team members attempted to shove snapshot files into
powerpoint. It REALLY didn't like that (so he said).

Another option could be to output the data to XL, format the XL sheet
to be pretty, and then paste it as a link into the slide. I've done
it before and it doesn't look too bad. You can make it fairly
seemless except for the whole "Do you want to update links?" thing.

Anthony.

Phil I have little practical experience in Automation with Word but I
would like to take a look at your current solution to see your progress
over the last months. I did take time this summer to study a book on the
Word object model. Perhaps there is something I can add to your solution

It's probably because Powerpoint has sort of a different object model
than some of the other apps, and probably doesn't get used as much.
But once you get past the obvious differences ( tables, worksheets,
pages, slides, email messages ) the whole Office family works pretty
much the same way.

Hope someone can help. I have an application whereby in order to create one document type I effectively print out 3 or 4 access reports in correct order. So the user goes to the printer, collects the report and has no idea that 3 or 4 reports were actually created in order to produce the printed copy.
