Listing Record Count Each Database Table

Hi,

I am doing database documentation and run the procedure below to list
the record count for each table in the database. The results in the
immediate window only a partial listing of tables. It appears the
ones missing are linked (ODBC) tables.

Any help you can lend would be appreciated.

For Each tdf In db.TableDefs
Debug.Print tdf.Name & "/" & tdf.recordcount

Try this:
Private Sub Command14_Click ()
Dim db As Database, RS As Recordset
Dim tdf As TableDef
Set db = CurrentDb
For Each tdf In db.TableDefs
Set RS = db.OpenRecordse t(tdf.Name, dbOpenDynaset)
On Error Resume Next
RS.MoveLast
Debug.Print tdf.Name, RS.RecordCount
On Error GoTo 0
Next
End Sub

For linked tables you must reach the last record
to have .RecordCount reading correctly records
number.
For this you use RS.MoveLast but must
trap error raised when a table doesn't
contain records.

Approximately once a month, a client of ours sends us a bunch of comma-delimited text files which I have to clean up and then import into their MS SQL database. All last week, I was using a Cold Fusion script to upload the cleaned up files and then import the records they contained into the database, though obviously, the process took friggin' forever, and could have been done 500x quicker had I done it directly on the server. My SQL...

So I've got an old MS Works database I imported into Access. I needed a primary key so I created a record number field that was just the record number I manually inserted when I entered it in the database so I could sort the records by the date at which they were entered. Well now I've deleted some of those records so its of course causing gaps in the records. The record number in Access no longer matches my record number that I...

Hi, I'm writing a program in Visual C# 2005 Professional Edition. "Generations" table has the following fields: "IDPerson", NamePerson", "AgePerson" and "IDParent". A record contains the information about a person (his name, his...

I'm a very low-level developer with limited VB knowledge but nonetheless was able to put together a very user-friendly and extremely helpful Access 97 database for my company some 10 years back. We use the database for inventory, job costing, employee records, timecard recording, nearly everything except the hard core accounting. The database is shared by 20 users over a network. Every 3 or 4 years I archive and purge the data to keep the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
