ODBC Databases not available for linked tables

After having reformatted my workstation, I installed Windows XP and
Office 2000 Premium. However, when I open an Access database to link
to a SQL Server database, I notice that in the "Files of Type"
dropdown list, "ODBC Databases" does not appear. I looked through the
Office 2000 setup, but didn't see any option that I was obviously
missing. How do I restore this feature?

I have to say, that's a new one on me. Perhaps, the ODBC libraries are
missing from the system, or something? Do you still find the Data Sources
(ODBC) tool in the control panel under "Administra tive Tools"?

Actually, that was the first thing I thought of, so I immediately went
to setup of my ODBC profiles again and the connections all tested out
fine. I then went to do a repair install of Office 2000, but that
didn't seem to have any effect on the link tables feature.

I changed from Access97 to AccessXP and I have immense performance problems. Details: - Access XP MDB with Jet 4.0 ( no ADP-Project ) - Linked Tables to SQL-Server 2000 over ODBC I used the SQL Profile to watch the T-SQL-Command which Access ( who creates the commands?) creates and noticed:

I am trying to connect to a DB2 v7.2 database from Lotus 123 v9.8 on a Windows XP Pro machine. I have the Software Development Client installed on the XP machine and have run the Client Configuration Assistant and registered the SAMPLE and my TEST databases with the ODBC Administrator as System DSN data sources. Everything seems fine, but when I try to connect to "External Tables" through 123 my DB2 databases are not listed under available...

In an Access97 application I fetch data from an Oracle database via a linked table (via Odbc/sqlnet). The Oracle database now upgrades from 7.3 to 8.0. The Oracle odbc driver I use (2.0.3.1, supplied with 7.3) always worked fine on all Nt4 workstations. Now with the 8.0 db an odbc error occurs when the db is contacted: {ODBC Oracle Driver]ORA-01034: ORACLE not available. (#1034) SQLSetConnectAttr of the device driver had failed. On a...

The center (non profit University) where I work collects scientific data about subjects enrolled in studies related to respiratory diseases. Both lab data and questionnaire information are collected. An error "ODBC connection to failed" is raised when I am trying to get data from a table in Microsoft Access (97, or 2000) which is actually a linked table to another table in SQL Server 7 . The exception is raised from a Web .Net app while exactly the same code works fine in Windows .Net app. That makes me thinking the issue somehow is related to security context. Anyway I do not know how to solve the problem, and any help is...

RE: Access 2003 using WinXP SP2 Problem: When I start up my app I double click either one of my two Oracle tables in the table list, it asks for an id and pass. I need them to be linked at startup automatically. The Oracle db contains two tables I need. I've already created an ODBC data source that contains the userid and pass to link to the Oracle DB. It works. When I go into linked table manager, I can link to them just fine

I just started using Access 2003, and I can't link a SQL Server table. I right-click on the database window; select Link Tables; and select ODBC Databases from the Files of Type dropdown. As soon as I select ODBC Databases from the Files of Type dropdown, the entire dialog box disappears. No error message. Just disappears, and I'm back at the database window. I have tried this with other databases, including a brand new blank one, and...

I recently started a co-op/internship at a company and they are looking to migrate a large legacy supported application from OLEDB to SQL Server. I'm doing prelim work in experimenting with the options available. The application is huge (1+ million lines of C++ code), so it'd be quite a bit of man hours to adapt all the database code for SQL Server. I stumbled upon linked tables in an OLEDB file to an ODBC source (such as SQL Server) and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
