Can no longer open database Why?

I have been using a MS Access 2000 database without trouble until today,
when I got a message saying there was insufficient memory when trying to
display a form. This was a first, and shutting down other programs did
nothing. So, I turned off and restarted the PC. Now, attempts to open the
database result in the following:

"XXX.mdb needs to be repaired or isn't a database file. Do you want MS
Access to attempt to repair the database"?

I clicked YES.

"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the " object".

I clicked OK.

"xxx.mdb can't be repaired or isn't a MS Access database file".

I clicked OK.

That's it. No more options. Can I ever get this database back? The only
other thing I did out of the ordinary immediately prior to this problem was
I started to install MS Outlook, but then cancelled it. Access works fine
on other databases. I tried "Detect and Repair" out of the Help menu, with
no change.

Thank you,

- Phil

Check Tony Toew's page on Access database corruption at
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm ... lots of good stuff
there.

I'm getting intermittent "Object Invalid or No Longer Set" errors in my Access 2002 mdb. What causes these errors? Has anyone dealt with this before? I can't trace it because it's not easy to duplicate -- it just show up... I've heard that spurious queries that use Now() or Date() or some other date

We were testing a version of our app that's been running for months with no problems and it started throwing "Object no longer exists" messages on two machines in the test environment. Hi! This is a routine for copying a recordset into a new order. It has worked fine under Win98. However, my client has changed to Win XP, and suddenly it doesn't work anymore. I keep getting the following error message: Object is not in collection. So I do a very thorough check and doublecheck of fieldnames from underlying table,...

Excuse any errors in my description of the problem, as I'm only an amateur with Access. I've just created a simple VB application in A2000 that imports a text file into a table, and works fine. I then used the Microsoft Upsizing Wizard to create a new SQL database with an MS Access 2000 back end, and guess what, it not longer works, but...

Our webhost (www.usbusinessweb.net) had a W2K IIS5 server crash after a scheduled hard-boot occurred during a ms-security patch install overnight. They couldn't get the server working again so they transferred our site www.orbisoft.com to a new W2003 IIS6 server they set up. That was a week ago. Since that transfer, all of our ASPX pages...

Hello there, I am trying to get to the bottom of an 'Object invalid or no longer set' issue, but I am not a database programmer. We have approx 20 users on MS Access 2002 front ends on 2 sites connected by WAN using a SQL 2000 SP4 database backend. 1 site is 24 hours, the other is 9 - 5 operation. We have a SQL database...

I'm having trouble here with Access 2007 and connecting to a different database. The code below works great IF the previous back-end database connection is still present and you are trying to connect to a new location (ie: datapath variable below). However, if you remove or even rename the old database, then launch your program, the code...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
