MapPoint 2004 Control in Access

tom
Hi All,

We have an Access XP application in which we utilize automation to
control MS MapPoint 2004. It works pretty well, for the most part.
Now, we would really like to use the MapPoint Control in our
application to give our users active maps to interact with, but the
control's help page explicitly states that it is NOT for use in
Access:

(With MapPoint 2004, the MapPoint Control is supported only in
Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 or later. This does not include Visual
Basic for Applications (for example, the Visual Basic for Applications
included with Microsoft Office).)

It does SEEM to work in Access, but I haven't really given it a run
for its money there. Is anybody else using it? Where have you run into
trouble? Any stories of experience with this much appreciated.

Thanks,
-Tom

I read this too. We satisfied the users using Automation and running
MapPoint full-screen as a separate app, thus avoiding the activex
control.
Sounds to me MSFT is saying: it don't work. Don't come complain to us
if you find out the hard way. I would heed their warning.

FWIW I'd ask over in the microsoft.publi c.mappoint newsgroup. Or do a search at
gruops.google.c om using the advanced search screen limiting your search to the
prevoiusly mentioned newsgroup.

Tony,

Good idea. I posted over there and found one person who is doing
what I want to be doing. He seems happy with the results. (Michael R.
Mattys - Mattys MapLib for Microsoft MapPoint -
http://www.mattysconsulting.com) We will forge ahead with trying this
out.

I have an address form in Access 2003 that contains the usual address information such as AddressLine1, AddressLine2, City, State, etc... I would like to put a button on this form that feeds the address info into MapPoint, along with a fixed return address, and gets driving directions - or at least get a map of the destination. I have the MapPoint software, but have not used it. Will MapPoint provide driving directions, or just a map? ...

I saw a demo of this a LONG time ago in...

I am automating mappoint in access and was wondering what is a better way to have the mappoint map running all the time: 1.call it as a seperate application OR 2. as an activex control within a form in access. Both will give me the same data results, but I am more concerned about performance. Any ideas? Thanks,

I am new to Access Monster forums. I developed an Access form which employees add their daily route. The form contains a sub-form in data-sheet (tabular) view where users add address and other information each day. (All data is stored in a database (.mdb file) on our server.) The form also contains a calendar control where one can call up routes from previous days. The sub-form is based on a query which ties to the calendar control. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
